Vanguard Reaches Sector is possibly the only remaining sector in the entirety of Charted Space where minor mercenaries and soldier-adventurers still have the means and the opportunities to carve out their own personal empires, without the possibilities of major opposition or interference by outside powers.
- Piracy is still endemic to many regions, many of them privateers in the secret employ of various states, and petty territorial wars rage on some of the more remote worlds.

Description (Specifications)[edit]
Vanguard Reaches Sector is a dynamic frontier region where multiple races, cultures, and societies mix and blend. Many Zhodani claim it as their frontier. Many Vargr assert that it is a spinward extension of the Vargr Extents, a sort of "Spinward Extents", while the native, aboriginal indigenes feel a little differently...

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The sector is noteworthy for its two exotic indigenous minor races, the Eslyat and the Murians. Very little is conclusively known about the history and background of the region although it certainly has a very long history with technological civilizations. Ruins believed to be of both Ancients and Kursae origins are still being explored in the area.

Historical Eras[edit]
History-General Overview: No information yet available.
History-Era: Milieu 1100[edit]
The Vanguard Reach is a remote nowhere. In the antebellum period it was too far from any of the major powers. It was peripheral even to the Frontier Wars: Zhodani and Imperial military planners steadfastly refused to waste ships and resources in trying to influence the sector. Much of this disinterest was due to the sector's unusually low stellar density. Most of the sector's worlds and civilizations are in the four coreward most subsectors, or along the Beyond interface. The further one goes away from those regions, the fewer and farther between habitable worlds become, until one reaches the Helix Rift in the lower spinward-rimward quarter.
Needless to say, this scattering discouraged much development or political organization within the heart of the subsector. The remoteness of many worlds attracted many fringe religions and cults to settle here, as well as political refugees and just plain rednecks, none of whom had anything common with each other than a shared desire to be left alone. Aside from the Colonnade Administrative District (CAD) and the Corellans at the flanks, the sector was an impoverished frontier of no consequence, no prospects and no value.
All of this changed with the Collapse. The new Regency needed to foster trade and development to maintain the Quarantine, and foster civilization against future regression. The development of the jump-2 route known variously as the Gold Road or the Mortal Coil soon brought Regency and Corellan traders. The Aslan, already having a tenuous foothold in the rim interface, intensified trade with the Altarean Confederation and the CAD. The sector's resources, once too far away to be of value, were priceless. Planets that the inhabitants wouldn't waste their time to fight over became the bloody battlegrounds of rival powers and their advanced military forces. The local rednecks suddenly found themselves popular, newly rich and coveted by previously disinterested outsiders.

Polity Notes[edit]
The main powers contending for the sector are:
- Aslan: The Aslan (especially the Aokhalte bloc),
- Corellan League: The inhabitants of the Corellan League,
- Murians: The Murians of the Altarean Confederation,
- Zhodani: The Colonnade Province,
- Independent Organizations: A number of independent organizations.
Here are more details about these polities:
- The Aslan came to led by the Aokhalte, who post-Collapse made the region their main power center. Their advances have been slowed considerably by their wars in neighboring sectors, and by the aggressiveness of the Seieakh bloc.
- The Beggars' Crusade is a bizarre and secretive pseudo-religious order found on many of the Reaches' non-aligned worlds, where their members pursue arcane agendas known only to the Crusade's inner sanctum.
- The Corellans are mostly interested in reaping the rich trade that wends its way through the sector en route to either The Beyond and the Regency, the CAD or the Aslan.
- The Murians are just plain furious with the presence of the Aslan, and have been building up their military for a possible confrontation over their mutual borders.
Trade Routes (Economic Astrography)[edit]

Stellar Distribution[edit]
A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Vanguard Reaches Sector.
- The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
- The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.
(Chart sourced from Traveller Map).
Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.
- Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
- Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the sector and far beyond.
Worlds, Systems & Sectors (Political Astrography)[edit]
This is a astrographic region of high to very high stellar density. The Helix Nebula is the most prominent astrographic feature in the Vanguard Reaches.
