Rumio is an agricultural, nonindustrial, and very rich garden world with a near-ideal, utopian environment conducive to most sophonts.

  • As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world. However, a rich world like this one can afford the cost of importation.
  • This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
  • Its economy and population are growing and living conditions are expected to incrementally rise barring outside forces. The world will grow even quicker when its industrial sector begins to develop.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Yavakrbi Subsector of Vanguard Reaches Sector.

System Data[edit]

A single gas giant orbits beyond the habitable zone and two other gas giants orbit the red dwarf companion star more than 20 billion kilometres distant.

Mainworld Topography and Geography[edit]

Four widely spaced continents break up Rumio's planetary ocean, limiting the effects of storms. The fading tectonic activity produces few earthquakes and volcanos.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Rumio has a well-evolved ecosystem roughly compatible with Terran life forms.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The original settlers of Rumio had sought to travel as far from Imperial and Zhodani space as feasible. It was decades before they became aware of the Zhodani expansion to nearby Yavakrbi. The leadership responded to this challenge by establishing colonies on Andress Balfor and Syndet Landing with the intent of encouraging trade with the Colonnade Province, and making the systems more valuable as independent brokers than dependent frontier outposts. Both systems later broke away from the homeworld, Andress Balfor achieving self-government in 804 and Syndet Landing in 861. Nevertheless, the existence of these colonies greatly improved the flow of trade, ensuring that Rumio did not slip into the same declining technological track as nearby Tsuroka.

World Starport[edit]

Rumio has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

  • The leaders of Hoganas in Four Corners Subsector built the Highport at Rumio in 1018. A shrine to the Golden Sovereign of Hoganas and an enthusiastic embassy are still present.

World Population (P)[edit]

Rumio has a population of 7,000,000 sophonts (millions).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Rumio possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Rumio is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions within the government. These positions are inherited by members of the group or by their relatives. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.

World Law (L)[edit]

Rumio has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
