Htalrea (VR 2340) is a poor, nonindustrial hellworld with a population struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often develop intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- It is a member of the Aslan Hierate Kyatulyare Vassal in the Old Colonies Subsector of Vanguard Reaches Sector.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Htalrea has a solitary primary star.
- It is a yellow main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x7 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
- It receives higher levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits inside the star's Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Htalrea is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Htalrea has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Htalrea has 05-15% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.
- Much of the surface is an arid, hostile environment.
Satellites:[edit]
Htalrea retains a small vacuum moon.
- It orbits once every few days.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Primitive native life. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Htalrea is a member of the Aslan Hierate Kyatulyare Vassal.
Aslan settlement began during the 1060s.
- Prior to settlement, Htalrea was an isolated human outpost.
- Construction is ongoing in many areas.
- The resources of the system are being exploited.
The system is busy. There is a large amount of in-system activity.
- Commercial vessels arrive and depart regularly.
- Commo picks up constant chatter and signals. Communications are in Trokh.
- Multiple navigation beacons are active.
- Vessels occasionally travel between the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Note that social data, though frequently updated, may be out of date: additional groups may now inhabit the system and maintain their own culture, forms of government, and systems of law.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Htalrea has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Htalrea possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Htalrea is governed by a single Aslan Clan as part of a multi-world polity or pocket empire. Members of ruling clan are present to effect government leadership.
- The human government code listed on star charts corresponds to Aslan Government Code K.
World Military[edit]
Approximately 5000 professional warriors, in service to the clan authorities.
World Law (L)[edit]
Htalrea has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: C (very abundant)
- Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 3 (very limited)
- Efficiency: +3 (improved)
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 1 (ordinary)
World Demographics (P)[edit]
Htalrea has a population of 900,000 Aslan.
Urbanization[edit]
A single large urban center is surrounded by smaller satellite communities.
- The population are concentrated into a single relatively densely populated region.
- Much of the surface of the world remains as wilderness.
All buildings are constructed in the distinctive curved style of the Aslan.
- A few pre-Aslan structures, dating back hundreds of years, survive on the surface.
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 1 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 6 (aloof)
- Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
- Symbols: D (very abstract)
World Timeline[edit]
