The company was originally founded as Port Shipping Services in 1049, on Baixing (Vang 1721). It grew through many mergers and acquisitions, changing an increasingly hyphenated name to Portmanteau Shipping Services (or PSS) in 1077.
PSS is best known as a shipping line, but it also owns shipyards at Baixing and Haapamaki (Vang 2120), producing both civilian and military starship models.
Further, PSS operates a courier service, providing data and small package mail services to the entire Diadem Main and beyond, with offices as far away as Trelyn Vrra (Vang 2504), Hoganas (Vang 1125), and Kajaani (Vang 3021).
PSS is also a major brokerage and financial services firm, with offices on every Diadem world and beyond.
