Tellerian Cluster

The Tellerian Cluster is a group of 26 systems in Vanguard Reaches Sector.

The Tellerian Cluster is not a government; it is a regulated conflict zone. The Tellerian Main was settled in the early 700s under sponsorship of Empress Margaret I of the Third Imperium, as a bulwark against the Zhodani Consulate Colonnade Province directly to spinward. Direct support ended after Margaret's unexpected death in 736.

The four major worlds of Telleria (Vanguard Reaches 1308), Ralnn (Vanguard Reaches 1105), Orylla (Vanguard Reaches 1405), and Drien (Vanguard Reaches 1606) were in conflict for three centuries, mostly over control of the rest of the Tellerian Main. These wars disrupted trade throughout the coreward subsectors of the Vanguard Reaches and spawned disorder in the form of privateers and opportunistic corsairs.

Vanguard Reaches Polities

History[edit]

There continues in the cluster a lengthy series of wars and infighting concerning unoccupied worlds in several systems. Export or import of weapons between other interstellar communities and the Tellerian Cluster is strictly illegal. Efforts are made to disinclude travellers from the constant warfare, but the area remains dangerous.

In 1089, the Council of Worlds was held on Telleria (Vanguard Reaches 1308) to hammer out a non-interference agreement for the Tellerian Cluster's Wars of Colonization.

Merchants are known to visit the cluster from as far away as the Kajaani Triumvirate, whose trade vessels often travel with military escort.

The Eli are a group of corsairs known to frequent this cluster.

The Big Four[edit]

The Cluster's four major powers are as follows:

Telleria: The most populous world, with the largest economy. In 710, it was the first world settled during Margaret I's initiative. It is an industrial power near the centre of the cluster. The few short-lived alliances between various Major Powers have always been anti-Tellerian.

Ralnn: The least populous but most prosperous, with a technocratic government and a very habitable environment. Ralnn presents itself as a peacemaker and promoter of trade, although it is often accused of supporting corsair bands - possibly even the Eli.

Drien: The second most populous. It is a strict religious totalitarian state based on the rule of the Prophets of Rauhe. Drien ships and troops lag behind the other three worlds' in technical prowess but their devotion is fanatical.

Orylla: Often mentioned as an afterthought by outsiders, but nonetheless a large world with significant mineral reserves. Orylla is limited in its influence outside the cluster, because its policies are strongly anti-psionic and thus at odds with the Colonnade Province of the Zhodani.
