Dlieblafia is a poor, non-agricultural and industrial high-population hellworld with a billion or more sophonts in size who still struggle to survive in an inhospitable environment.

  • Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often form intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
  • It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
  • As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
  • The world serves as the subsector capital with the significant extra trade and prestige associated with that role.
  • This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or over technology standards for Charted Space.
  • It is a member of the Zhodani Consulate and part of Colonnade Province in the Dlieblafia Subsector of Vanguard Reaches Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Despite a strong magnetic field, the world is losing atmosphere and will likely be unable to support liquid water within the next few hundred million years.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Lichen-like growths on rocks exposed by solar tides are the only native surface life. The very thin dusty atmosphere lacks enough oxygen to support humans without supplemental tanks or advanced multi-stage compressors.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Dlieblafia owes its settlement to the Zhodani Great Rift Expedition, the Consulate’s only recorded survey of the Iphigenaia Sector. The expedition used Dlieblafia as a staging base and rally point for subsidiary exploration of systems.

World Starport[edit]

Dlieblafia has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Timeline[edit]

  • -1104: The Zhodani Great Rift Expedition, heading to Iphigenaia Sector, places a surface station on the shores of a briny sea to refine fuel, support minor maintenance, and resupply the small station in orbit.
  • -1101: A few hundred technicians stay behind to expand the surface station for a follow-on expedition (later cancelled).
  • -1099: The ship Zhidrbenshdao, sent to evacuate the technician crew, sets out from Pridrda more than 40 parsecs coreward but fails to arrive, misjumping and becoming stranded on the world of Qiazianchezh.
  • -688: The next contact between Dlieblafia and Zhodani exploratory traders. The orbital station has long since burned up and the small ground station has become a mostly subterranean city, the largest on a world of nearly a million inhabitants.
  • Circa -500: The people of Dlieblafia regain spaceflight, building a new orbital station and exploring other worlds of their star system.
  • 120: The population of Dlieblafia has reached a billion people and their subterranean cities fill great lava tubes.
