History & Background (Dossier)

Asgari was once part of a chain of outposts built by the Corellan League to support trade with the Murians. When the League consolidated its bases, a number of settlers chose to remain; unfortunately, they collapsed into barbarism. However, given the world's productivity, their descendants are numerous.

Around the shores of the world's ocean are competing nation states armed with muskets and sailing ships. These nations can agree on little but a hatred of offworlders, known as "Abandoners". A starship attempting to land on Asgari will likely be met with cannon fire.

World Starport (St)

Asgari does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.

World Population (P)

Asgari has a population of 70,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

• The population are Human, descended from the families of Corellan League staff who operated a small refuelling and maintenance yard.

Linguistic Topography

Language has diverged from Corellan Galanglic into five separate languages, all nearly incomprehensible to Travellers.

World Technology Level (T)

Asgari possesses a Technology Level of TL–3.

• Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Printing press, the mechanical telegraph, and the first audio recordings.
• Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Coal or other simple hydrocarbon fuels and early steam engines.

Asgari hatred of offworlders has morphed to include hatred of "labour-stealing" machines, including steam engines and electricity, which are shunned.

Asgari has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

• There are more than thirty nations. Some are republics, many are monarchies, one a confederation of city states.
• The greatest power is the Empire of Tigouya, with a population of 10 million.
• Its rivals include the Zopata Republic, the Principality of Ramosa, and the Dual Kingdom of Sikili-Rejem.

Asgari has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended.
