The Aslan have found a means of entering Theron Sector from rimward.
 +
* A number of Aslan outposts exist along the rimward edge of the sector.

The Aslan may have established an exploration route along the edge of the Great Rift.
 +
* They appear to be using a hidden fuel cache, likely located within hex 2901 of Waoasi Subsector (Subsector D of Faoheiroi'iyhao Sector).

* If it really exists, the route relies on Jump-5 vessels.

Aslan would likely use the route to communicate with and supply their explorers, pioneers, and scattered outposts within the region.

Iphigenaia Sector is a frontier area and a crossroads of Aslan, Zhodani, and non-aligned Human interests.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

Iphigenaia Sector is a sparsely populated region lying towards the spinward edge of Charted Space.

  • It is characterized by a long spinward-trailing corridor of stars lying between large rift regions.
  • The resources of the sector for the most part have not been exploited.

The sector was initially surveyed during the Imperial First Survey.

  • First Survey primary data regarding the sector was very fragmented.
  • The data drew heavily on the records and accounts of previous explorers within the region.
    • Some of this data was centuries or millennia out of date.

The sector was extensively surveyed during the Imperial Second Survey.

  • The majority of the IISS personnel who conducted long-range survey missions were based out of the Spinward Marches.
  • They were able to gather valuable data at great personal risk.
We salute their valor and honor the fallen.
  • Much of the updated data relating to the sector was based on remote long-term observations done over approximately 70 years (from 995 to 1065).
  • Most of the output from these observations was automatically collated and generated and may occasionally contain errors.

The following astrographic and commercial data regarding the sector has been determined:

Summary[edit]

Stellar Distribution[edit]

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Iphigenaia Sector, right:

  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the sector and far beyond.

Rift Regions[edit]

A simple map showing rift regions within Iphigenaia Sector, right:

Locally at least, a rift is an astrographic concept based on Jump Drive performance.

The highest tech level commonly encountered out this Far Along (spinward of the Third Imperium) is TL–12, though a few worlds may be more advanced.

  • This level of technology allows the routine use of up to Jump-3 drives.
  • Areas that cannot be crossed by Jump-3-capable vessels are denoted as rifts.
  • Rifts present a significant obstacle to interstellar trade and commerce.

There are considered to be three major rift regions within the sector.

Clusters & Traces[edit]

There are a number of traces and clusters within the sector but most are not named.

Aslan Exploration Route[edit]

(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)

The Aslan have found a means of entering Theron Sector from rimward.

  • A number of Aslan outposts exist along the rimward edge of the sector.

The Aslan may have established an exploration route along the edge of the Great Rift.

Aslan would likely use the route to communicate with and supply their explorers, pioneers, and scattered outposts within the region.

  • The existence of the route and the fuel cache have not been proven.

A simple map showing the likely Aslan exploration route along the Great Rift and into Theron Sector is shown right.

  • Rift regions are shown in blue.
  • Known Aslan outposts and settlements are ringed in red.

Borealis Group[edit]

Borealis Group
Chart Stellar Distribution Borealis Group.png

The spinward skies of Iphigenaia Sector are dominated by the Borealis Group, a very large cluster of stars containing an unusually high number of stellar giants.

Significant Stars
The brightest stars in the group are called the Borealean Stars. They include:

They are surrounded by more than sixty other giant and subgiant stars, some almost as bright as the named giants, as well as numerous main sequence stars and white dwarfs.

  • The cluster has higher than normal concentrations of gas and dust within it.
  • This gas and dust reflects the intense light of the stars and gives the vast feature a diffuse glow.

World Listing[edit]

Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds lying within Iphigenaia Sector is available.

  • The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
  • Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
  • Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
  • Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.

AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:

Native Sophonts: 1105[edit]

Four sophont species are native to the sector:

Namri

Demographics: 1105[edit]

Significant populations of the following races (sophont species) reside within this area:

  • Humaniti (Human Races)
    • Muirimi Solomani: 10.838 billion.
Muirimi refers to any individual originating from the long-settled but isolated human-dominated region lying along the edge of the Great Rift in Theron and Iphigenaia Sectors. They are descended from Solomani colonists originating from the central Asian and Indian subcontinent regions of Terra.
      • The Muirimi are followers of Sitaraism.
      • Muirimi is an evolution of the Urdu word "Mujrim", meaning "guilty", or "criminal".
    • Varied origins, largely resident within the Aslan Kyatulyare Vassal: 3.209 billion.
      • At least 50% were born within the Vassal.
      • A significant percentage are not there voluntarily.
    • Zhodani: a few thousand far-flung envoys, traders, merchants, and explorers at most.
Aslan

The total population of Iphigenaia Sector is estimated to be 23.098 billion Sophonts.

  • Humans make up around 68% of the total population.
  • Aslan make up a little over 31% of the total population.
  • Various non-human races make up less than 1% of the total population.

Linguistic Topography: 1105[edit]

The following languages are among the most commonly used within this astrographic region:

  • Native Languages (principally Naiurdu, the most common language among the Muirimi).
  • Riftian Anglic.
  • Trokh: The language of the modern Aslan monoculture.
  • Zdetl: The primary language of the Zhodani, and common in their client states and wider sphere of influence.

Politics & Diplomacy (Interstellar Relations)[edit]

(Chart sourced from Traveller Map).
(Chart sourced from Traveller Map).

Various powers and groups play out their interests within the sector. Occasionally this may bring them into conflict.

Polity Listing: 1105[edit]

The following polities can be found within this sector:

Aslan Hierate Kyatulyare Vassal[edit]

  • It is in all respects a part of the Aslan Hierate.
  • It is made up of various squabbling Clan groups and interests, principally the Seieakh and the Aokhalte.
  • There is a lack of clear and decisive high-level leadership.
  • While it is powerful, the state is very poorly organized and the local leadership are both headstrong and impulsive.
  • It relies heavily on imported equipment, particularly starships.
  • It is in open conflict with the well-equipped Altarean Confederation in Vanguard Reaches Sector.
  • It is engaged in espionage, raiding, and strikes against the Regency of Muirimi.

Regency of Muirimi[edit]

  • The Regency is a confederation of former polities and individualistic groups who don't cooperate well.
  • Prior to the formation of the Regency, the various smaller polities had a history of in-fighting. There are still many scores to settle.
  • The trailing regions of the Regency feel they are bearing the brunt of the conflict with the Aslan, and that other areas are content to let them do so.
  • The leadership of the state are overly cautious and are seen as having partisan interests.
  • The population of the state does not have full confidence in its military. Local leaders may occasionally raise private armies.
  • The Regency is engaged in espionage, raiding, and strikes against the Kyatulyare Vassal of the Aslan Hierate.

Non-Aligned Powers (World-States)[edit]

A number of inhabited worlds in the sector are non-aligned:
