Saokhawase is a nonindustrial water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water.

  • The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a member of the Aslan Hierate Kyatulyare Vassal in the Shillelagh Subsector of Iphigenaia Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Saokhawase has a solitary primary star.

  • It is a yellow main sequence.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.

  • It lies just within the zones prime H region.
  • It receives moderate levels of stellar energy.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Saokhawase is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Saokhawase has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Saokhawase has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.

  • The vast warm oceans are storm-wracked and turbulent.

Satellites:[edit]

Saokhawase retains a small very thin atmosphere moon.

  • It orbits once every few weeks.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.
  • Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
  • Detailed survey data commands premium prices.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Primitive native life occupying a number of ecological niches. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Saokhawase serves as neutral ground where parties from across the Kyatulyare Vassal may meet and topics can be discussed.

  • The world has been settled by Ihatei Aslan, moving to spinward along the edge of the Great Rift in search of new territories.
  • The resources of the system are gradually being exploited.

The system is busy. Private groups and business interests are engaged in a range of activities.

  • Commercial traffic is fairly frequent: ships regularly visit the system.
  • Commo picks up constant signals and transmissions. Communications are in Trokh.
  • A number of commercial navigation beacons will be active.
  • A number of vessels may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.

Aslan settlement began during the 1060s.

Note that social data, though frequently updated, may be out of date: additional groups may now inhabit the system and maintain their own culture, forms of government, and systems of law.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Saokhawase has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Saokhawase has a population of 900,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
  • The population almost entirely consists of Aslan.
  • A few humans and other sophonts may be encountered.

Urbanization[edit]

A few large urban centers, surrounded by smaller satellite communities, are located on a series of rocky archipelagos.

  • The population are concentrated into a single relatively densely populated region.
  • Most of the surface of the world is ocean wilderness.

All buildings are constructed in the distinctive curved style of the Aslan.

  • The oldest structures on the world are no more than 50 years old.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Saokhawase possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World Government (G)[edit]

Saokhawase is governed by a single Aslan Clan as part of a multi-world polity or pocket empire. Members of ruling clan are present to effect government leadership.

World Military[edit]

Approximately 5,000 professional warriors, in service to the clan authorities.

World Law (L)[edit]

Saokhawase has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors).

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -3 (very unimportant)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: A (abundant)
  • Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
  • Infrastructure: 3 (very limited)
  • Efficiency: +1 (average)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 4 (harmonious)
  • Acceptance: 5 (very aloof)
  • Strangeness: 6 (very distinct)
  • Symbols: 7 (somewhat concrete)
