Orvadu is a low-population water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water and a population of less than 10,000 sophonts.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Noriega Subsector of Iphigenaia Sector.
- It is a balmy tropical world, with a climate of high temperatures.
- Its Naiurdu name is Yateem.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Orvadu is a binary star system.
- The primary is a white main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld, orbiting the primary star.
- x4 secondary rocky worlds, all orbiting the primary star.
- x2 planetoid belts, both orbiting the secondary star.
- x4 gas giants, all orbiting the primary star.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
- It receives higher levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits beyond the star's Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Orvadu is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Orvadu has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
- It experiences high temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Orvadu has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.
Satellites[edit]
Orvadu retains a single tiny planetoid moon.
- It orbits once every few hours.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant aquatic native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Orvadu is a backwater outpost with no domestic development.
- It is a member world of the Regency of Muirimi.
- It has been settled for centuries.
- The resources of the system are being explored.
The population are culturally Muirimi.
- The inhabitants can trace their origins back to the central Asian and Indian subcontinent regions of Terra.
- The majority are followers of Sitaraism, a form of star-worship.
There is little activity within the system.
- Commercial traffic is very infrequent: ships rarely visit.
- Commo only picks up natural background noise and static.
- A single commercial navigation beacon may be active.
- Vessels are unlikely be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Orvadu has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Orvadu has a population of 9,000 sophonts (thousands).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.
Urbanization[edit]
A single central facility with a few outlying structures and compounds.
- Inhabited areas are restricted to a single archipelago.
- Almost all of the surface of the world is wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Orvadu possesses a Technology Level of TL–3.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Printing press, the mechanical telegraph, and the first audio recordings.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Coal or other simple hydrocarbon fuels and early steam engines.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Bicycles and early steam coaches with advanced roadways.
- Water: Advanced sailing and early steam engine ships.
- Air: The earliest hot air balloons.
World Government (G)[edit]
Orvadu is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions within the government. These positions are inherited by members of the group or by their relatives. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.
World Military[edit]
Privately retained security personnel.
World Law (L)[edit]
Orvadu has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -3 (very unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 6 (few)
- Labor: 2 (hundreds)
- Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
- Efficiency: -2 (fair)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 1 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 1 (extremely xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 4 (somewhat distinct)
- Symbols: 3 (very concrete)
World Timeline[edit]
- 300-420: the First Survey charts the system.
- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
