Description (Specifications)[edit]

(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)

Riter Subsector is largely a backwater with a few small settlements along its coreward edge.

  • The older name is found on Solomani star charts dating to the Rule of Man, before the Long Night.
  • Much of the region is empty wilderness.
  • The resources of the subsector are largely untapped.
  • There is some trade and commerce among the settled coreward worlds.

Astrographic Features & Trade Routes: 1105[edit]

The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding Riter Subsector:

Stellar Distribution[edit]

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Riter Subsector, right:

  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

Rift Regions[edit]

The Great Rift dominates the subsector.

Locally at least, a rift is an astrographic concept based on Jump Drive performance.

The highest tech level commonly encountered out this Far Along (spinward of the Third Imperium) is TL–12, though a few worlds may be more advanced.

Aslan Exploration Route[edit]

(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)

The Aslan appear to have found a means of crossing the subsector while avoiding the hostile Regency of Muirimi.

The Aslan may have established an exploration route along the edge of the Great Rift.

Aslan would likely use the route to communicate with and supply their explorers, pioneers, and scattered outposts within the region.

  • The existence of the route and the fuel cache have not been proven.

  • Rift regions are shown in blue.
  • Known Aslan outposts and settlements are ringed in red.

Borealis Group[edit]

The Borealis Group can be seen as a bright, dense, noticeable grouping of stars in the skies to Spinward.

World Listing: 1105[edit]

Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds lying within Riter Subsector is available.

  • The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
  • Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
  • Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
  • Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.

AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:

9 Worlds in the Riter Subsector
Cuthulu  •  Engavat  •  Gheru  •  Immibur  •  Karak  •  Lixin  •  Oskalac  •  Riter  •  Sarla Kasik  •

Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, may already be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Pietten Confederation, Historical. (Chart sourced from Traveller Map).

Riter Subsector is a remote, lightly settled region. Those few scattered populations within it have a long history of introversion and isolationism.

Culturally, the inhabitants of the region are Muirimi. Its coreward systems formed part of an ancient Muirimi state called the Pietten Confederation.

The Muirimi were originally citizens of the Old Earth Union, in the Solomani Rim, during the Long Night. Their culture was centered on the religious belief of Sitaraism: they gained considerable antipathy due to their views on possessions, private ownership, and territorial rights. They fled Terra aboard a number of large starships during the -200s and somehow made it across Charted Space, finally settling in the isolated wildernesses of Iphigenaia Sector and Theron Sector sometime around -100.

The Pietten Confederation was founded around the year 220. It survived almost unchanged until before surrendering its independence to form the Regency, in order to better deal with the growing Aslan menace in the region.
