Trichinella is a moderate population, non-agricultural and preindustrial, icy vacuum world, with over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts, which warrants hazardous environment precautions.
- Its surface is ice-capped with little or no atmosphere and nearly all of its water frozen.
- It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- It is a world working toward being an industrial powerhouse but lacks an adequate workforce to do so at this time. Immigration is being encouraged and promoted. This world needs workers.
- It is a member of the Regency of Muirimi in the Zebylono Subsector of Iphigenaia Sector.
- It is a main world which is a satellite of either a gas giant or another world.
- Vacuum worlds have no climate, but experience extreme differences in temperature between direct starlight and shade.
- This world-system has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Trichinella has a solitary primary star.
- It is an orange main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x4 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x4 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Trichinella is a satellite of a gas giant.
The mainworld and its gas giant primary orbit within the outer system.
- They receive very low levels of stellar energy.
- They orbit beyond the stars Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Trichinella is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Trichinella has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Trichinella has 15-25% of its surface covered by ice, either in vast sheets or contained deep within craters or fractures on the surface. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants can be got by mining and melting ice.
- The surface of the world is composed of a crust of ice many kilometers thick.
- Much of the surface is cratered and covered in regolith and thick dust of meteoric origin, leaving only around 20% of the icy outer shell exposed.
- Below the outer icy shell is a world-ocean of liquid water.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, vacuum world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Extensive sub-ice native life occupying a variety of ecological niches.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Trichinella is a prosperous commercial center with an expanding economy and rising standards of living. The worlds technological base is rapidly improving as rival nation-states compete for global supremacy.
- It is a member world of the Regency of Muirimi.
- It has been settled for centuries.
- The resources of the system are being exploited.
The population are culturally Muirimi.
- The inhabitants can trace their origins back to the central Asian and Indian subcontinent regions of Terra.
- The majority are followers of Sitaraism, a form of star-worship.
Multiple businesses, organizations, and private interests are active within the system.
- Commercial traffic is heavy: ships constantly arrive and depart.
- Commo is filled with signals and private chatter. Communications are in Naiurdu and Riftian Anglic.
- Multiple commercial navigation beacons will be active.
- A number of vessels may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
- Exploratory or survey vessels may be active in the system.
- Naval vessels may be active in the system.
The world formed part of an ancient Muirimi state called the Pietten Confederation.
- The Confederation practiced a harsh form of Sitaraism that placed many restrictions on its followers.
- The polity was considered belligerent and frequently had disputes with its neighbours, particularly the Republic of Georgia.
- Despite fervent internal protest, the Confederation and its member worlds chose to join the Regency upon its formation.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Trichinella has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- A Naval Base is sited within the system.
- An Exploration Base is sited within the system.
World Demographics (P)[edit]
Trichinella has a population of 500 million.
Urbanization[edit]
Multiple large urban centers are surrounded by smaller satellite communities.
- Inhabited areas are dotted across the world.
- Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
- Large regions of the surface of the world remain as wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Trichinella possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Trichinella has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
- Rival nation-states compete for global dominance.
World Military[edit]
Approximately 2 million personnel.
- Each nation-state maintains its own standing army.
The local Regency of Muirimi Naval Base is home to three destroyer flotillas.
- They are equipped with domestically produced TL–9 Guardwell class Fleet Destroyers.
World Law (L)[edit]
Trichinella has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
