Khtoih is a high-population, industrial world with a billion or more sophonts in population size.

  • As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
  • Its economy is rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to rapidly improve barring outside forces.
  • It is a member of the Aslan Hierate Kyatulyare Vassal in the Shillelagh Subsector of Iphigenaia Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Khtoih is a binary star system.

  • The primary is a white main sequence.
  • The secondary is a red main sequence.
Khtoih has two stars in the star system.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

The mainworld orbits within the two stars' combined Habitable Zone.

  • It lies within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
  • It receives higher levels of stellar energy.

Chart Orbit HZ+ Region Detailed.png

  • The world orbits beyond the stars' combined Jump Shadow.
  • Local temperatures can vary considerably depending on the two stars' alignment relative to the world.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Khtoih is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.

  • Tidal stresses generated by the world's close moon cause frequent seismic activity.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Khtoih has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. This atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds, which requires the use of a Filter Respirator Combination Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Khtoih has 85-95% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few small continents, and a number of islands and archipelagos. Dry land is limited. Wilderness refueling is possible.

  • The vast hot oceans are storm-wracked and turbulent.
  • They are covered by fogs, hazes, and dense steams.

Satellites:[edit]

Khtoih retains two small close vacuum moons.

  • They orbit once every few days.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.
  • Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
  • Detailed survey data commands premium prices.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Abundant aquatic native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

  • There are few land-based lifeforms.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Khtoih is a backward and underdeveloped world, though it is relatively busy. The commercial infrastructure is being upgraded but living conditions are very poor.

  • The world has been settled by Ihatei Aslan, moving to spinward along the edge of the Great Rift in search of new territories.
  • The limited resources of the mainworld are gradually being exploited.

A number of organizations and private interests are active within the system.

  • Commercial traffic is relatively frequent: ships occasionally arrive and depart.
  • Commo may pick up an occasional signal or private chatter. Communications are in Trokh.
  • A number of commercial navigation beacons will be active.
  • Vessels rarely operate among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.

Aslan settlement began during the 1060s.

Chart Aslan Hierate Kyatulyare Vassal Basic.png

The human population of the world arrived with the Aslan.

  • Most are integrated members of society.
  • Many are not there by choice.

Note that social data, though frequently updated, may be out of date: additional groups may now inhabit the system and maintain their own culture, forms of government, and systems of law.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Khtoih has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Khtoih has a population of 3,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).

  • High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
  • About 60 percent of the population (roughly 1.8 billion individuals) are Aslan.
  • Around 40 percent of the population (approximately 1.2 billion individuals) are human.

Life for the workers and miners on Khtoih is hard and miserable.

Urbanization[edit]

Multiple large cities, each surrounded by smaller satellite communities.

  • Cities are located across the world.
  • Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
  • Regional centers have their own starports.
  • Some regions of the surface of the world remain as wilderness.

Many buildings are constructed in the distinctive curved style of the Aslan.

  • The oldest structures on the world are no more than 50 years old.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Khtoih possesses a Technology Level of TL–3.

World Government (G)[edit]

Ouhoieahkau is governed by one of the major Aslan Clans. The local clans owe fealty to one of these clans, taking direction on policy from the clan leadership.

World Military[edit]

Approximately 15 million professional warriors, in service to the clan authorities.

World Law (L)[edit]

Khtoih has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked, and destinations must often be declared when traveling substantial distances across the world.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: 0 (unimportant)

Khtoih almost exclusively refines raw materials, both obtained locally and brought in from offworld sources.

  • Processed goods - particularly base metals - are exported.
  • This is done using primitive, labor-intensive, but effective processes.

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 6 (few)
  • Labor: 8 (hundreds of millions)
  • Infrastructure: A (extensive)
  • Efficiency: +1 (average)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 9 (discordant)
  • Acceptance: 9 (friendly)
  • Strangeness: 7 (confusing)
  • Symbols: 1 (extremely concrete)
