Carboloy is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Regency of Muirimi in the Zebylono Subsector of Iphigenaia Sector.
- This is a hot world, with a climate of high temperatures.
- This world has an exploration base, which is similar to an Imperial Scout base, capable of handling explorer personnel and exploratory starships.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Carboloy is a binary star system.
- The primary is a turbulent orange subgiant.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x2 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
No information yet available.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Carboloy is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Carboloy has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. This atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds, which requires the use of a Filter Respirator Combination Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- The world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.
- Oxygen is produced by photocatalytic conversion of surface materials by stellar energy.
- Fresh surface material is constantly exposed through processes such as seismic activity, volcanism, or erosion.
- The oxygen rapidly depletes from the atmosphere through oxidization with surface materials: a rough equilibrium between production and depletion exists.
- The world has a low oxygen taint: the percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere varies according to the density of global cloud cover.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Carboloy has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Satellites:[edit]
No information yet available.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
No native life: the world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Carboloy
- It is a member world of the Regency of Muirimi.
- It has been settled for centuries.
- The resources of the system are being exploited.
The population are culturally Muirimi.
- The inhabitants can trace their origins back to the central Asian and Indian subcontinent regions of Terra.
- The majority are followers of Sitaraism, a form of star-worship.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Carboloy has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Demographics (P)[edit]
Carboloy has a population of 60,000.
Urbanization[edit]
A central urban area surrounded by smaller satellite communities.
- Outlying areas have a few isolated structures or compounds.
- Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
- Almost all of the surface of the world is wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Carboloy possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-3.
World Government (G)[edit]
Carboloy is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
- The human government code listed on star charts corresponds to Aslan Government Code XX.
World Military[edit]
Approximately 300 personnel.
World Law (L)[edit]
Carboloy has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: A (abundant)
- Labor: 3 (thousands)
- Infrastructure: 3 (very limited)
- Efficiency: +1 (average)
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 0 (unimportant)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 4 (harmonious)
- Acceptance: 4 (extremely aloof)
- Strangeness: 9 (extremely confusing)
- Symbols: 9 (somewhat abstract)
World Timeline[edit]

- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
