Aw is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Aslan Hierate Kyatulyare Vassal in the Shillelagh Subsector of Iphigenaia Sector.
- It is a balmy tropical world, with a climate of high temperatures.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Aw is a binary star system.
- The primary is an orange main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.
- They are close companions.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x6 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the two star's combined Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zones warmer inner H+ region
- It receives higher levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits beyond the two stars combined Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Aw is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Aw has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
- It experiences high temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Aw has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.
- Much of the surface is an arid, hostile environment.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Primitive native life. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Aw is a small commercial outpost with limited development and infrastructure.
- The world has been settled by Ihatei Aslan, moving to spinward along the edge of the Great Rift in search of new territories.
- The resources of the system are being exploited.
A number of organizations and private interests are active within the system.
- Commercial traffic is fairly frequent: ships regularly visit the system.
- Commo picks up constant signals and transmissions. Communications are in Trokh.
- A number of commercial navigation beacons will be active.
- A few vessels may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Aslan settlement began during the 1060s: prior to this it was a barren world.
- The world falls under the broad purview of the Seieakh and Aokhalte clans.
- Construction is ongoing in many areas.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Aw has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Aw has a population of 70,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- The population almost entirely consists of Aslan.
- A few humans and other sophonts may be encountered.
Urbanization[edit]
A few small urban areas each surrounded by satellite communities.
- The population inhabit a single relatively large region.
- Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
- Much of the surface of the world remains as wilderness.
All buildings are constructed in the distinctive curved style of the Aslan.
- The oldest structures on the world are no more than 50 years old.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Aw possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Aw is governed by a single Aslan Clan as part of a multi-world polity or pocket empire. Members of ruling clan are present to effect government leadership.
- The human government code listed on star charts corresponds to Aslan Government Code K.
World Military[edit]
Approximately 400 professional warriors, in service to the clan authorities.
World Law (L)[edit]
Aw has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -1 (unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 8 (moderate)
- Labor: 3 (thousands)
- Infrastructure: 3 (very limited)
- Efficiency: +1 (average)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 6 (harmonious)
- Acceptance: 3 (xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 4 (somewhat distinct)
- Symbols: 8 (somewhat abstract)
World Timeline[edit]
- 300-420: the First Survey charts the system.
- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1060s: Aslan begin migrating across the Great Rift.
- after 1060: Aslan settle the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
