Kyna is a non-agricultural, preindustrial, icy vacuum world, warranting hazardous environment precautions.
- Its surface is ice-capped with little or no atmosphere and nearly all of its water frozen.
- It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- It is a world working toward being an industrial powerhouse but lacks an adequate workforce to do so.
- It is a member of the Regency of Muirimi in the Maria Subsector of Iphigenaia Sector.
- It is a mainworld which is a satellite of either a gas giant or another world.
- Vacuum worlds have no climate, but experience extreme differences in temperature between direct starlight and shade.
- This world has an exploration base, which is similar to an Imperial Scout base, capable of handling explorer personnel and exploratory starships.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Kyna has a solitary primary star.
- It is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x2 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Kyna is a satellite of a gas giant.
The mainworld and its gas giant primary world orbit towards the outer edge of their star's habitable zone.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Kyna is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Kyna has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Kyna has 05-15% of its surface covered by ice, either in vast sheets or contained deep within craters or fractures on the surface. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants can be got by mining and melting ice.
- The surface of the world is composed of a crust of ice many kilometers thick.
- Much of the surface is cratered and covered in regolith and thick dust of meteoric origin, leaving only around 10% of the icy outer shell exposed.
- Below the outer icy shell is a world-ocean of liquid water.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No information yet available.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Primitive sub-ice native life.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
No information yet available.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Kyna has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
Facilities[edit]
Port facilities within the system include:
- No information yet available.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Kyna possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fission power generation, advanced water and wind generation of electricity.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, early ATV's, and dedicated AFV's.
- Water: Amphibious vehicles, improved submersibles, and early SCUBA gear.
- Air: Early jet aircraft and rotorcraft VTOL's.
- Space: Early unmanned rocket delivery systems and early manned orbital rockets.
World Government (G)[edit]
Kyna is governed by a Charismatic Dictatorship. Charismatic governments justify their ability to rule by simply asserting their right to rule. Charismatic dictatorships are typically young governments, coming as a recent change, and rely on the leader(s) to supply head of government.
World Military[edit]
- No information yet available.
World Law (L)[edit]
Kyna has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A world with this law level may be an Amber Zone or a Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. On worlds with this degree of law, it is difficult to distinguish the police from the military. On others, there is no difference.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 7 (few)
- Labor: 6 (millions)
- Infrastructure: 6 (limited)
- Efficiency: +2 (good)
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -2 (very unimportant)
World Demographics (P)[edit]
Kyna has a population of 80,000,000
Urbanization[edit]
A single huge metropolis is home to the entire population.
- Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
- Most of the surface of the world remains as wilderness.
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 5 (harmonious)
- Acceptance: 5 (very aloof)
- Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
- Symbols: 5 (concrete)
