Courtney is a poor, non-agricultural, moderate population world with over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in population size.
- It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- Life is trying on a world like this and inhabitants are constantly working towards developing a viable source of food production.
- It is a member of the Regency of Muirimi in the Noriega Subsector of Iphigenaia Sector.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
- Its Naiurdu name is Adaalat Naeem.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Courtney has a solitary primary star.
- It is an orange main sequence.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x6 secondary rocky worlds.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zones warmer inner H+ region
- It receives higher levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits beyond the stars Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Courtney is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Courtney has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences moderate temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Courtney has 25-35% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants will be recycled.
Satellites[edit]
Courtney does not retain any moons.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Primitive native life occupying a number of ecological niches. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Courtney is an undeveloped backwater, though it is developing its economy and standards of living are improving.
- It has been settled for centuries.
- The resources of the mainworld are being exploited.
A few organizations and private interests are active within the system.
- Commercial traffic is relatively infrequent: ships occasionally visit.
- Commo picks up occasional signals and private chatter. Communications are in Naiurdu and Riftian Anglic.
- One or two commercial navigation beacons may be active.
- Vessels rarely operate among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
The population are culturally Muirimi.
- The inhabitants can trace their origins back to the central Asian and Indian subcontinent regions of Terra.
- The majority are followers of Sitaraism, a form of star-worship.
Its Naiurdu name is Adaalat Naeem, or Court of Naeem.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Courtney has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Courtney has a population of 400,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).
Urbanization[edit]
Multiple large urban centers are surrounded by smaller satellite communities.
- The population are concentrated into a single relatively densely populated region.
- Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
- Much of the surface of the world remains as wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Courtney possesses a Technology Level of TL–3.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Printing press, the mechanical telegraph, and the first audio recordings.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Coal or other simple hydrocarbon fuels and early steam engines.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Bicycles and early steam coaches with advanced roadways.
- Water: Advanced sailing and early steam engine ships.
- Air: The earliest hot air balloons.
World Government (G)[edit]
Courtney is governed by a Charismatic Dictatorship. Charismatic governments justify their ability to rule by simply asserting their right to rule. Charismatic dictatorships are young governments, coming as a recent change and rely on the leader(s) to supply head of government.
