Riftian
Riftian, or Riftian Galanglic, is a major dialect of Anglic spoken in the spinward frontiers of the Third Imperium.
This dialect is primarily used in the region "Behind the Claw", throughout the Domain of Deneb.
- It is a semi-central language, with stronger Solomani language group influences.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The Riftian dialect arose more recently than the other major dialects of the Anglic language, as the colonies Behind the Claw are the result of much more recent patterns of settlement. As evidenced by the names given to the worlds of this region, especially in the Marches and the Trojan Reach, many of the original settlers had a wide range of strong Solomani ethnic backgrounds. During the early expansionist years of the Third Imperium, a time when the polity was in its early glory and "Galanglic" summarized the "zeitgeist" of the era, this resulted in new Anglic dialects drawing from multiple sources. The Riftian dialect is descended from a mix of both the Core and Rim dialects in measure, carried by colonists and explorers into the unsettled regions and augmented further with additional Terran-derived languages. As a result, Riftian speakers, more than those of any other dialect, will tend to refer to their language as the "Galanglic" language. [1]
