Description (Specifications)[edit]
This astrographic region is rich in interstellar trade and interspecies cultural exchange. At least three of the major race powers actively trade here:
Toponyms: 1105[edit]
This sector has been known by different names to different groups over its existence, including the following:
| Alpha Crucis Sector Names | ||
|---|---|---|
| Culture | Toponym | Polity |
| Third Imperium | Alpha Crucis | Third Imperium |
| Aslan | Unknown | Aslan Hierate |

| Vilani | Amkarim | Third Imperium |
| Zhodani | Unknown | Zhodani Consulate |
- The name Alpha Crucis is of Solomani origin, deriving from the name of the star Alpha Crucis (α Cru), or Acrux.
- The sector was known as Amkarim Sector to the Vilani during the First Imperium.
- → Other names for this sector all have their origin in Solomani star-naming nomenclature:
- Several powers know this sector as Alpha Leonis Sector after the star Regulus (α Leo) located in Regulus Subsector.
- This sector has also been known as Gamma Crucis Sector on some maps after the star Gamma Crucis (γ Cru) (otherwise known as Rubidea or Gacrux), located in this sector.
- This sector has also been known as Alpha Corvi Sector on some maps after the star Alpha Corvi (α Crv), or Alchiba, located in this sector.
- Historical Note:
- The sector two positions to trailing (known as Phlask Sector in the Gurvin speech) was historically known to the Solomani as Alpha Crucis Sector in the early days of Terran Confederation expansion, due to the location of the bright star Acrux (Alpha Crucis) within the sector. Somehow over the millennia (perhaps during the Long Night), the old Solomani names and records must have become corrupted, and the name of the star Alpha Crucis became instead associated with the sector here (two to spinward of Phlask Sector). This was perhaps due to the similarity in Solomani scientific nomenclature to the star Alpha Corvi (see above) that is located within this sector, or to the similarly named star Gamma Crucis that is also located here. On the other hand, other Terran records consistently label this sector as Alpha Leonis (even down to the present day), after the star Regulus, which lies in the subsector bearing the same name, adding to the mystery and confusion. Linguistic Topography: 1105[edit]
The following languages are among the most commonly used within this astrographic region:
- Languages of Humaniti:
- Rim Anglic: A principal dialect of one of the two official languages of the Third Imperium, and an official language of the Solomani Confederation.
- Vilani: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium.
- Other Languages:
- Delphinic Trinary: The language of Dolphins. There are a number of dialects.
- Gurvin: The common spoken language of the Hive Federation, whose trade expeditions are frequently found here.
- Oynprith: The ritualistic, ceremonial language of Droyne communities throughout Charted Space.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Prior to the Solomani Rim War, all the worlds in the sector were considered part of the Solomani Confederation.
- The Solomani consider the worlds claimed by the Imperium to have governments in exile.
- Some of them actually do have leaders who were displaced by the Imperium and still claim to hold legal authority for their respective worlds.
- The total population of the sector is a little over 1,021 billion.
Long prior to the Solomani Rim War, the area was once a battleground between the Terran Confederation and the Ziru Sirka during the Interstellar Wars. There are still remnants of those millennia-old battles found in Alpha Crucis space.
Native Sophonts: 1105[edit]
The following races (sophont species) are believed to have originated within this area:

Historical Eras[edit]
General Overview: No information yet available.
History-Era: Milieu 1100[edit]
The median tech level is C (12); however, nearly twenty percent of the worlds are reported to have a TL of F (15). This is probably due to the high technology influence of the nearby Hive Federation, which is known for its exports of high tech items.
Major Historical Events Timeline: 1116[edit]
These are some of the more important historical events that have affected this sector:
- (990-1002): Solomani Rim War
- (993-998): Stalemate period. While the Confederation is able to construct new capital ships and find more recruits in highly patriotic Alpha Crucis to reinforce their losses, they are not able to outcompete the Imperium's ability to do the same. By 995 the Imperial Navy holds superiority in the Old Expanses Sector and is on the offensive.
- Anti-Solomani guerrilla campaigns are waged in the Ximenes and McKenzie subsectors, but are kept in check by the SolSec paramilitaries and elements of the Confederation Army.
- (1002): The war ends after the Imperial capture of Terra and the destruction of the Solomani Grand Fleet.
- (1003): The Solomani Confederation establishes a new capital on Home (Aldebaran 1009).
- (1086): Duni War
Politics & Diplomacy (Interstellar Relations)[edit]
The Solomani Confederation controls 60% of the worlds in the sector, a clear majority.
- A significant number of the worlds are aligned with neither the Solomani Confederation nor the Third Imperium. This area of Independent Space has become a rich trade ground.
- The Solomani Confederation respects the rights of the non-aligned worlds to govern themselves within the Accords of Confederation, although they are always trying to swing governments to re-join the Confederation and enjoy the benefits derived from membership.
