The Sundowners of Weeven (Alpha Crucis 1812) are a technologically primitive Minor Non-Human Race with a Non-humanoid appearance.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

A Sundowner -- sometimes called Weeven after their planet, or Lampshade for their appearance -- is a member of a vacuum-adapted Minor Race native to Weeven (Alpha Crucis 1812), where their population numbers in the tens of billions.

Physiology & Environment[edit]

Sundowners leach light metals and oxygen from their world's regolith, which they convert into a form of rocket fuel used to migrate.

The billions of Sundowners on Weeven trundle slowly along the surface, other than when they jet hundreds of metres to cross an unappetising area of bedrock. These jumps take several minutes to complete. A faster leap is possible with greater thrust, but Sundowners do not think quickly enough to course correct if such a step is taken.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Some Sundowners have been induced to perform resource extraction tasks for their world's Solomani population.

Psychology & Philosophy[edit]

The Sundowners are sophont but very slow thinkers. They operate on a different sense of time, and communication with other species is difficult. They are long-lived and in no hurry regarding any facet of life. They perceive other carbon-based lifeforms as fleeting and ephemeral when compared to their gradual progress through existence. They sometimes acknowledge and even work for the Human colonists on Weeven, but a conversation (technologically assisted) takes place over months.
