Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Weeven is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Weeven has a pressure of less than 0.1 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Weeven has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

At 90 billion people, the Weeven mainworld has the highest population in the entire sector. Most of these 90 billion are natives; Weeven is the homeworld of a sedentary vacuum-adapted minor race, the Sundowners or 'Lampshades'. While fully sapinet, they are very slow thinkers. They leach light metals and oxygen from the world's regolith, which they convert into a form of rocket fuel used to migrate.

Some Sundowners have been induced to perform resource extraction tasks for the small Solomani population, but interaction is overall rare.

World Starport[edit]

Weeven has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.

  • The fragmented Human society of Weeven means it is impossible to operate a central starport. Human communities have their own landing facilities that vary from primitive to basic.

Demographics[edit]

90 billion Sundowners, also known as Lampshades or Weeven, populate this world.

The Human population, which numbers a few tens of millions, mostly dwell in small settlements, usually connected with mining or resource-extraction.

World Culture[edit]

Some Sundowners have been persuaded to farm minerals for the small Human population. However, interaction is difficult due to the slow thought processes of the Sundowners. The usual method is to leave an interpretation device near a native, broadcasting its message as a radio wave that can be perceived by the being. Delivering a message in this manner can take weeks, followed by a period of deliberation and equally slow response. To a Sundowner this is a quick chat; to a Human it means months of waiting around for a response.
