  • Its economy is rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to rapidly improve barring outside forces.
  • This is a "Puzzle" world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.
  • It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Galloway Subsector of Alpha Crucis Sector.

Ramadan is a high-population industrial world. It derives its name from the month long Islamic religious holiday.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Ramadam has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

Ramadan has a population of 30,000,000,000 sophonts (tens of billions).

World Demographics[edit]

Ramadan is almost entirely populated by descendants of immigrants from Terra's Europe and Asia-Pacific regions. The population is thus almost entirely of pure Solomani stock.

Ramadam is governed by a Religious Dictatorship. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy). There is a powerful independent organization, the state religion, which has influence or direct control of the government. Like the bureaucratic governments this may simply be a strong influence with a secular government, be direct influence by virtue of controlling who may be in the leadership, or be a direct theocracy where the church leadership and bureaucracy is the government.

World Law Level (L)[edit]

Ramadam has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. Most worlds with this law level may be an Amber Zone or Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. There is no difference between the police and the military. This world is a full-fledged police state. Oppression is legalized, though not routine.

World Culture[edit]

Ramadan was founded by Islamic settlers and their influence remains. Due to the highly oppressive religious dictatorship on the world religious doctrine plays a major part in social mores. The people of Ramadan continue to follow the five pillars of Islam, using advanced technology to know which direction Terra is in at any point so they can pray towards Mecca five times a day. Many Ramadanians attempt to perform the 45 J-2 Jump Hajj to Terra at least once in their lifetime (many wealthy adherents will book J-3 or J-4 travel).

Historical Data[edit]

Ramadan was colonized late during the Rule of Man and was a major world during the Long Night as one of the founding members of the Islamic High Republic. After the Republic descended into civil war between rival worlds Ramadan become isolationist and self-sufficient. Once the Third Imperium reestablished contact with Ramadan they founded the Solomani Inter-Faith Development Partnership of Alpha Crucis (SIPAC) in partnership with New Jakarta, Bismalia, Puertovalez and Tirane.

Ramadan frequently attempts to influence affairs on Hadj (Alpha Crucis 3038) through economic aid, cultural missions and arms sales.
