This system is claimed by the Commonwealth of Gadjick. A Commonwealth naval base was used to launch an attack on the neighboring Duni (Alpha Crucis 3130) system in 1085; the Confederation counter-attack the following year destroyed the base.

Potena has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions.
