Surrey is a low-population vacuum world, with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in population size, warranting hazardous environment precautions.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

The Surrey system is a binary star system with four planets, one major planetoid, and one asteroid belt. Amongst the planets there are a total of 12 satellites. Two of the four planets are gas giants.

The two stars are both red dwarfs with an average distance of 20 AU between them at any given time. Together they orbit a barycenter nearly exactly between the two of them in a 96.91 year cycle. Each star has a small planetary system around them.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Surrey is a small barren rock world with a single minor satellite.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

The diameter of Surry is 4640km. The mass of the planet is 0.015 standard units and it has a gravity of 0.1125g.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

There is no atmosphere on Surrey. Due to the very low luminosity of its star, Surrey's average temperate is -162°C.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

The surface of Surrey is approximately 3% water, all of which is frozen ice.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Surrey is a low-population vacuum world located in McKenzie Subsector of Alpha Crucis Sector. The system is a member of the Imperium and contains a Naval Base.

  • It is an Imperial fortress world with limited Solomani population; the city is burrowed deep under rock.

Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]

Surrey, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Nobility overseeing the world.

World Starport[edit]

Surrey has a level B starport. Repair and construction of spacecraft is possible on the world, as well as the purchase of refined fuel. The starport is located near the surface of the planet.

World Government[edit]

There is no formal government on Surrey outside of the Imperial Naval station.

World Economy[edit]

As an Imperial naval base the world of Surrey has no notable industry and must import all consumer products.

World Demographics[edit]

Surrey was chosen as an Imperial fortress world due to its absence of a Solomani population. Nearly all inhabitants of the planet are Vilani military families and civilian contractors.

World Culture[edit]

The small population of Surrey have a unified culture cemented together by their connection to the Imperial navy. The only noticeable custom to outsiders is the significant presence of a small rodent pet owned by nearly all families.

Historical Data[edit]

The Solomani Rim War ended in an armistice in 1002 with the McKenzie subsector under occupation of the Third Imperium. By 1005 terrorist activity on Imperial-occupied worlds forced a change in strategy for the location of Imperial Naval facilities. This strategy called for the construction of fortress worlds on small barren moons and planets with little or no Solomani population where the starport could be constructed into the surface of the worlds. Surrey is one of these fortress worlds.
