A Variant Human Race created by the Solomani.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

Technically there is no one aquamorph lineage, as these Humans are the result of genetic experiments undertaken at different times. The majority of aquamorphs alive today descend from late experiments and can be considered genetically stable; throwbacks are now rare.

Compare with the Aquan branch of Scanian Humaniti, which had a similar genesis, and the Nexxie, a newer aquatic population created in the Spinward Marches Sector, distant from the Solomani Sphere.

Physiology & Environment (Ecology)[edit]

Aquamorphs are land creatures but adapted for a water environment. They use modified gill-lung apparatus that allows indefinite breathing underwater and safe dives to depths of around 30 metres. They generally resemble normal Humans but the hands and feet are enlarged and webbed. Limbs are longer and have lighter bones but are powerfully muscled for swimming. Aquamorphs have a fine but dense layer of body fat, which insulates them against cold water but can lead to overheating on land.

Aquamorph skin needs to be kept hydrated. This can be accomplished simply by pouring water over the aquamorph or using clothing impregnated with a hydrating gel. Installations where aquamorphs interact with regular Humans often have rehydration booths at convenient intervals.
