Despite its location in the Consolidation of Turin interior, Chartres is considered by many to be the gateway to Consolidation space. Progressive politics and acceptance of non-pure Solomani make it far more welcoming than the neighbouring systems of Montserrat and Cologne.

Chartres has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions.
