The Mockmoles of Colfax (Alpha Crucis 1605) are an extinct Minor Non-Human Race with a Non-humanoid appearance. They were technologically primitive sophonts.

Description (Specifications)

The Mockmoles were a hexapodal burrowing species, a Minor Race native to the garden world Colfax (Alpha Crucis 1605).

The average Mockmole was less then a metre (63 centimetres) in height and weighed about 2.0 kilograms. The Mockmole was a burrowing mammal with smooth leather-like skin. They had six legs and when using all six to move across the ground could reach speeds of 56 kph (35 mph) when running. They could burrow underground at a rate of 3' every minute in soft soil, 2' in hard and 1' in solid stone. They gathered in family groups and lived in burrows. The Mockmoles' maturation rate was rapid, with an individual growing from newborn to adult in just 5 weeks. Their lifespan was up to 200 years.

Mockmoles showed signs of high intellect. They are now extinct.

History & Background (Dossier)

The "Mockmoles" (actual native name unknown) were a TL–0 primitive indigenous race when encountered by the Solomani, who ruthlessly exploited them. The Mockmoles attempted an unsuccessful uprising in 888 which was ruthlessly suppressed by the settlers. During the Solomani Rim War the local Solomani engaged in a campaign of genocide, using chemical weapons to extirpate the entire Mockmole population after a plot by Imperial agents to incite a second rebellion was discovered by SolSec.
