History & Background (Dossier)

Fairday is a high-population, industrial vacuum world, a member of the Imperium and the most populated world in the subsector.

The population almost entirely consists of Selenites, a Variant Human Race engineered to live in low gravity environments. Most Selenites are deeply uncomfortable outside an environment that can be neatly controlled. Being outdoors on a 'wild' planet is unsettling to them, and sudden rain or even a strong gust of wind might provoke panicked demands for reassurance.

Fairday, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world.

• It holds the estate of an Imperial knight.

World Starport

Fairday has a class-E starport positioned in a geostationary orbit above the planet. Only unrefined fuel is available for purchase and major repairs are not possible.

• Insular like most Selenite worlds, Fairday supports only rudimentary port facilities.

World Economy

As a worldhouse Fairday is dependent on the importation of water and air from other terrestrial bodies in the same system and from other nearby systems. In exchange the planet provides mineral and industrial wealth to other systems. The extremely high population of the system means that the importation of agricultural products is essential for survival.

Fairday imports minerals mined from the Grady Belt, to process into industrial goods.

World Culture

The Selenite people of the Fairday system are no different from others of their race. Their society views self-sufficiency as an essential quality and are xenophobic to outsiders.

Historical Data

Fairday was founded by Selenite settlers during the Rule of Man. Following the example of the successful paraterraforming of Velscur the planet was turned into a worldhouse planet a few centuries after settlement.

During the reestablishment of the Solomani Confederacy the people of the Fairday system found themselves treated as second class to the ruling Solomani class. When the Third Imperium occupied the system during the Solomani Rim War the Selenite population did not resist their new rulers.
