Ziusudra is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Ziusudra has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

A notable feature is the Mavinga mega-caldera, which lies under the northernmost continent. This caldera is an active geological feature that is predicted to have a 85% probability of erupting as a 'super volcano' within a few years (dated 1105). The size of the caldera would mean massive geological and ecological effects from such an occurrence.

During the Rule of Man Ziusudra’s oceans and major islands were seeded with genetically engineered Terran life replacing the primitive native ecology.

Ziusudra is an agricultural world that gives its name to the Ziusudra Subsector.

Ziusudra is named for the ancient Terran king of Sumer who according to mythology boarded animals on an ark and used those animals to restart life on Terra after a great flood.

World Starport (Sp)

Ziusudra has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Demographics

Ziusudra was first settled by Solomani colonists who remain the majority of citizens today. Approximately 13% of the population are a mix of different minority races, such as Vilani, mixed-Humaniti and other minor alien races.

World Government

Ziusudra is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.

World Military

The Confederation Navy and Confederation Army maintain bases in the Ziusudra system. The navy base primarily serves as the headquarters for the patrol vessels. These are either assigned to protected trade through the Rimward edge of the subsector or to patrol the border with the Third Imperium.

The Confederation military and the Home Guard of Ziusudra are aiding with the mass evacuations of millions of citizens from the northern continent in preparation for the highly likely geological event.

World Law Level (L)

Ziusudra has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Historical Data

Ziusudra was colonized during the Rule of Man with the goal to create a Terra-like garden world. Genetically engineered Terran flora and fauna were seeded into the ecosystem and slowly replaced the original native lifeforms. It wasn't until the year 900 that the ecological replacement could be said to be completed.

In 1103 geological sensors indicated that the planet’s Mavinga mega-caldera region on its heavily-populated northern continent is in imminent danger of erupting as a ‘super volcano’ in an extinction-level event. The Secretariat have declared the planet a disaster zone and Home Guard, Confederation Navy and Army forces are moving in to aid in the evacuations of millions of citizens from the most threatened regions.
