Alpha Crucis Sector (Imperial coordinates 1/-3) is located Trailing of the Solomani Rim and Rimward of Old Expanses.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

This astrographic region is rich in interstellar trade and interspecies cultural exchange. At least three of the major race powers actively trade here:

Toponyms: 1105[edit]

This sector has been known by different names to different groups over its existence, including the following:

Alpha Crucis Sector Names

Other names for this sector all have their origin in Solomani star-naming nomenclature:
Historical Note:
The sector two positions to trailing (known as Phlask Sector in the Gurvin speech) was historically known to the Solomani as Alpha Crucis Sector in the early days of Terran Confederation expansion, due to the location of the bright star Acrux (Alpha Crucis) within the sector. Somehow over the millennia (perhaps during the Long Night), the old Solomani names and records must have become corrupted, and the name of the star Alpha Crucis became instead associated with the sector here (two to spinward of Phlask Sector). This was perhaps due to the similarity in Solomani scientific nomenclature to the star Alpha Corvi (see above) that is located within this sector, or to the similarly named star Gamma Crucis that is also located here. On the other hand, other Terran records consistently label this sector as Alpha Leonis (even down to the present day), after the star Regulus, which lies in the subsector bearing the same name, adding to the mystery and confusion. History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Prior to the Solomani Rim War, all the worlds in the sector were considered part of the Solomani Confederation.

  • The Solomani consider the worlds claimed by the Imperium to have governments in exile.
  • Some of them actually do have leaders who were displaced by the Imperium and still claim to hold legal authority for their respective worlds.
  • The total population of the sector is a little over 1,021 billion.

Long prior to the Solomani Rim War, the area was once a battleground between the Terran Confederation and the Ziru Sirka during the Interstellar Wars. There are still remnants of those millennia-old battles found in Alpha Crucis space.

Native Sophonts: 1105[edit]

The following races (sophont species) are believed to have originated within this area:

Selenite
"Ladybug"

Demographics: 1105[edit]

Significant populations of the following races (sophont species) reside within this sector:

Dolphin

Solomani make up the majority of the population throughout most of Alpha Crucis. Typically, 75-95% of a world's population are pure Solomani, with most of the remainder being of mixed Solomani-Vilani ancestry. The major exceptions are worlds in Ximenes and McKenzie subsectors, where the pure Solomani population drops to between 45-75%, certain water worlds where Dolphins make up a large fraction of the inhabitants, and the homeworlds of minor alien races.

Historical Eras[edit]

General Overview: No information yet available.

History-Era: Milieu 1100[edit]

The median tech level is C (12); however, nearly twenty percent of the worlds are reported to have a TL of F (15). This is probably due to the high technology influence of the nearby Hive Federation, which is known for its exports of high tech items.

These are some of the more important historical events that have affected this sector:

Politics & Diplomacy (Interstellar Relations)[edit]

The Solomani Confederation controls 60% of the worlds in the sector, a clear majority.

The Isazii Feruu Guaankarundn crime syndicate has established itself in a number of non-Solomani and mixed communities within the sector.

Imperial Territory: 1105[edit]

The Solomani Sphere after the Solomani Rim War

This is an Imperial frontier area.

  • 16.00% is controlled by the Third Imperium.
  • 84.00% is controlled by non-Imperial powers.
  • The Imperial portion of this sector is administered from the Domain of Sol.

Duchies & Districts: 1105[edit]

The Imperial portion is so small that it only has one Duke who administers the area as a subsector.

  • Duke Tenlir reports directly to the Occupation Commander on Terra.
  • The Duke is also a retired Army Lieutenant General.
  • His title of nobility and the corresponding position is not hereditary and is passed to whomever the Emperor has designated.
