Knoellighz Sector is a long settled sector and a core part of the Vargr Extents.

  • It has a powerful neighbor in the enigmatic Zhodani Consulate that appears to be happy with the status quo.
  • Vargr polities in the area rise and fall, but the, as a generality, is more stable than much of Vargr space.
  • The Democracy of Greats is one of the largest and most stable polities in the sector.
  • Alternate orthography: Khoellighz Sector.

Meta-History & Background: 2019-0519[edit]

Knoellighz is an old sector with very few published products detailing it at length.

  • Numerous non-canon fan materials exist for this sector including a very large variety of non-canon polities and background stories.
    • Traveller author and fan Michael Allyn Davis created much of the initial sector generation.
    • Traveller authors and fans John G. Wood and Pakkrat have helped to develop this sector.
    • There is little set canon information about this sector. Most of the Classic Traveller and MegaTraveller products simply mention it in passing without significant detail.

  1. In 1984, the Classic Traveller Vargr (Alien Module) was published.
  2. In 1985, the Classic Traveller Zhodani (Alien Module) was published.
  3. In 1990, the MegaTraveller Alien - Vilani & Vargr was published.

  • As of Winter 2016, this sector has been fully programmed into the Traveller RPG Wiki and content is being developed for it.
  • It has NOT yet been T5 Second Survey reviewed NOR updated to T5 standards.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

Knoellighz Sector is a frontier sector situated between the very orderly Zhodani Consulate and the very disorderly Vargr Extents. The Zhodani side of the sector is intensely organized and high tech. The Vargr side is anything and everything else: intensely chaotic and gloriously free!

Linguistic Topography: 1105[edit]

The following languages are among the most commonly used within this astrographic region:

Most easily pronounced by Human mouths and vocals, Knoellighz rhymes in its pronunciation with "No lies", with an accent on the first syllable.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Similar to laws found in Geology, (Law of Original Horizontality, Cross-cutting Relationships and Superposition), Knoellighz Sector was surveyed and settled after Spinward Itvikiastaf, Trailing Dhuerorrg and Rimward Gvurrdon Sectors as a meeting of two Major Races, the Vargr and the Zhodani.

  • The Democracy of Greats entered Knoellighz from Trailing while the Zhodani Consulate occupied, in uniform motion, the two Spinward-Rimward subsectors.
  • Roughly the same time and at different rates of annexation, the Ascendancy Pact, Infinity League, and Oculus Alignment entered from Rimward, (though the Oculus Alignment actually arrived first of the three and was stunted by poor world choice.).
  • All polities and non-aligned worlds share a tendency for coreward expansion though at vastly different rates.

Historical Eras[edit]

General Overview: The majority of Vargr in Knoellighz Sector are Gvegh in ethnicity and language. Visitors from Trailing are generally Logaksu and there are occasional visits from Rimward Aekhu.

History-Era: Mileu 1100[edit]

1119: The Empress Wave begins sweeping into the Coreward border of the Sector. Many Vargr Psions and those merely trained in psionics are caught unawares and without adequate protection from what the Zhodani termed "Yonder Chilling Thought". In comparison, the Vargr of this sector recover more quickly than their Zhodani neighbors from the phenomenal effects of the Wave. Most Vargr Psions go unmissed by their home worlds, clusters or polities, perhaps due to Vargr mercurial behaviors.

Politics & Diplomacy (Interstellar Relations)[edit]

The two great powers of this astrographic region are the Vargr and Zhodani. While the Zhodani are unified and stand strongly together, the Vargr Extents are anything but... And wild west of squabbling factions, disparate cultures, and pure anarchical freedom.
