Nouon has both an unbreathable thin atmosphere and a lack of surface water, making habitation by sophonts difficult. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. This world contains an archaeological site with artifacts suspected to be from the now-vanished Ancients. The world lies substantially outside of the habitable zone of the system and environmental temperatures are well below the freezing point of many gases. The governance of this world is from Roethoeegaeaegz (Knoellighz 1726). It is a Vargr dominated Non-Aligned world in the Thoeg Subsector of Knoellighz Sector.
- On some older star charts, this world is mistakenly referred to as Dourouatue.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Nouon is a large planetoid, a Conquered world and Colony installed by Valkyrie (female space marine) forces from Roethoeegaeaegz (Knoellighz 1726) in 1101.

Mainworld Data[edit]
The trace atmosphere of Nouon is continually collected and compressed into the underground chambers of the Colony. Roethoeegaeaegz seems to be the only neighboring world familiar with such conditions, its peoples trained from birth to live in Desert and Vacuum environs. Air imports are also in demand at the Downport.
Nouon is a cool, desert world with less than 5% water on the surface. Water must be imported from the Ascendancy Pact through the world's benefactor, Roethoeegaeaegz.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
This world was not registered with full disclosure of its qualities, due to opposition both from within the Ascendancy Pact Representatives and from two of the three Magistrates of the Pact. Other, nearby non-aligned worlds also protested the claim, as does the neighbouring Democracy of Greats on the grounds that this span of the so-called Bridge of Destiny should remain unclaimed lest the Quiet Wars escalate. As such, the world is not yet annexed by the Pact. This denial has forced the Matron and priestesses of "Roeth" to tap their local, system navy to protect Nouon at cost.
The captured colony is an implanted, mobile and modular scientific facility that is nestled inside a clustered mining and refining Startown with plenty of smoke-screen diversions to keep prying eyes out of the secretly discovered Ancients time capsule grotto (see below). The colony is one of the most invested claims of the Ascendancy Pact, though even it knows not why.
Despite the Religious Autocracy and paramilitary Law on Roethoeegaeaegz, its colony on Nouon is significantly relaxed to a Law rating of 4, yielding a boomtown environment ruled by the female Vargr of the Conquering world. Combat Armor and Battle Dress of local law enforcement is the norm and wartime weapons and equipment is the same as everyday load-outs. The relaxed state of Law means that while ready to respond to threats, the paladins on Nouon are not required to be stringent save where the Ancients' time capsule is concerned.
Point of Interest: Ancients Time Capsule[edit]
The government of Roethoeegaeaegz knew ahead of time what to look for as their world had already received and discovered an Ancients time capsule shunted forward in time from antiquity. Formerly a simple mining world, advance mining teams discovered odd densitometry readings on Nouon, in a nickel-iron mine. The teams' progress was halted by the arrival of valkyries, scientists and archaeologists. The Matron and priestesses then aggressively 'purchased' Nouon from the local mining teams and evacuated the entire local company. Knowing the familiar signs of an Ancients time capsule, the science teams used the leftover mining gear to breach into the dry grotto containing what they correctly suspected was a time capsule still newly-arrived from the distant past. Tight security was laid down on the find and it was covered up by a colony settlement of archaeology teams, with a small, token paladin force to oversee superficial mining elsewhere on the world.
Unspoken Technology[edit]
Nouon tries to maintain its simple mining operations to hide the Ancients find, yet the world's Tech Level has climbed to D (13) threatening to expose the secret cache. The C-class Starport is purposefully kept at that rating as a thin veneer of simplicity above the hidden Ancients discovery. While the Downport-only world offers limited services, the technology behind it boggles visitors who question why it is not upgraded to A. There is intentionally no Highport over Nouon.
Mining & Resources[edit]
Though a token measure to cycle teams of miners seems to create the illusion of a simple interest in the planet's resources, the colony laboratories and heavy security raise questions as to their need. Military vessels from Roethoeegaeaegz in orbit above the planet add to visitors' curiosity. Transports import more equipment and colony needs than they export mined and refined nickel-iron ore, leading to questionable accounting as reported to Ascendancy Pact Representatives. Yet questions concerning this are dodged by the Magistrate from Roethoeegaeaegz, aided by redirection by its Representative, pointing eyes toward Coreward expansion rather than a simple world on the Bridge of Destiny. Trade on this world is minimal and plastic to further hide the true value of Nouon.
