Gziriggurkhosrus is a moderate-population world, with too many sophonts to be an agricultural world but not enough to be an industrial world. This system serves as the capital for the subsector. It is a member of Democracy of Greats in the Oguegh Subsector of Knoellighz Sector.
- This system hosts a Democracy of Greats Naval Base for support of military starships.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
System Data[edit]
Gziriggurkhosrus has captured a White Dwarf star in its first world orbit. The system endures occasional conjunctions as the Dwarf, named Mote in Galanglic, passes before the primary, named Wisp.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Gziriggurkhosrus insect fauna includes the "butterbee", a first-glance combination of a honey bee and butterfly. This harmless insect features no stinger, but bioluminescent blue double-wings that are a curious sight at night as they gather in small swarms. The butterbee collects pollen and deposits it in a hive for conversion to a sweet honey, valued and harvested carefully by local Vargr butterbee-keepers. This marketable ingredient is seasoned with various meat-based recipes to the delight of the canine race. A 0.5L mason jar of butterbee honey can sell for up to 100Cr in low produce seasons. The sight of larger swarms is a tourist attraction subject to guidance from entymologists who protect this species. A night viewing of a swarm in flight can mesmerize the viewer into a soporific, relaxed mood. Yet care must be taken to view the spectacle in relative silence so as to avoid spooking the insects. Some viewers are found asleep the next morning, long after a swarm has moved on. Environmentalists warn the planet administrators of atmospheric pollution that threatens the beautiful swarms and their hives. Biologists continue to attempt to replicate ready-made hives for seeding low population, rural areas with new colonies of the butterbee.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
700 million Vargr of the Democracy of Greats are still growing this world into the targeted Trade Codes of Hi (High Population) and In (Industrial World), in the goal to solidify its claim to Cp (Subsector Capitol). This non-Great world lies off the Jump-1 mains of the polity and seeks to model itself without the oversight of a Charismatic Great. Personal filtration muzzle covers allow breathing in the Tainted atmosphere overabundant with carbon dioxide. Planetary mining in light of a lack of planetoid belts has contributed to the atmospheric pollution. There is a faction of ecoterrorists that protest continental mining in favor of sea floor crust mining.
World Starport[edit]
Gziriggurkhosrus has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- There is an associated Naval Base.
- Vargr starports reflect the variety of Vargr architecture, with many disparate styles of building, each having their own unique ornamentation and gaudy colour scheme, and all competing for the attention of the onlooker. Emblems for the major shipping lines and port facilities abound.
- This world, lacking Gas Giants, has purposefully constructed an A-rated Downport in order to attract vessels to the surface of the mainworld. This is so refueling services need not be transported to orbital facilities. Orbital platforms are limited to satellites and berthing buoys for Distributed hulls to attain an orderly, geostationary gathering point. A Naval Base is visited by the polity fleets of nearby mains, but is largely left to service in-system and Jump-2 neighborhood military starships. Though not located on the so-called Bridge of Destiny, Gziriggurkhosrus does welcome trade both from inside the Democracy of Greats and from nearby non-aligned Vargr worlds. The shipyards here concentrate on hull variants and efficiency of displacement tonnage usage. Engineers can be hired to scrutinize and suggest modifications in a visiting hull if given a week and sufficient payment.
World Government[edit]
The Balkanized government features Factions that either support membership in the Democracy of Greats or oppose such and desire a border shift, on the argument that Gziriggurkhosrus is not located on the Bridge of Destiny and the Democracy is growing Coreward; and thus, should allow their mainworld to secede in time. As of 1105, insurgents have begun a terrorist program of sabotage and assassination to target the Ph (Pre-High Population) and Pi (Pre-Industrial) Trade Codes in hopes of eroding this system's value to the greater polity. System administrators at the Downport frequently omit their factional clashes to the Charismatic Greats in Oguegh Subsector. Tourism is somewhat tainted and hindered by the daily newscasts of urban bombings or clashes with law enforcement taskforce units. This insurgency has hiked the Law Level to 9, forcing terrorists to compensate with Infighting and improvised or weaponized household tools. The only truly secure facility on the planet surface is the Downport where the majority of law enforcement borders on martial law, even if downplayed by system administration on public announcement boards and news interviews.
