Khuzedhoth Doom Trade Slaving is a very irregular corsair group.

Description / Specifications[edit]

Khuzedhoth Subsector is unique in Knoellighz Sector in that there is not one Naval Base present in any of the local worlds. And strangely enough, there are only four Corsair Bases, each with their own Band. Because of their Letter of Marque, flagged vessels of Voudzeur Dhagu were only recently allowed to enter and leave through the Crystal Wall of the Zhodani Consulate. This is due to a clause inserted later, after the Zhodani protested the Privateers' mission of dark Doom Trade: Slaving.

History & Background / Dossier[edit]

Khuzedhoth Doom Trade: Slaving

Sometimes even Privateers cannot pass up an opportunity to make a sale outside of their employer's missions. This is the case with a Corsair Band that 'rehabilitated' itself by signing on as Privateers under the Sector-wide Hunters' Bawn regulations for their Letter of Marque. The Voudzeur Dhagu (Old Gvegh tr: "Challenge Gauntlet") Corsair Band received their Letter of Marque from the Infinity League (V9) and began taking missions on or just before 001-1102. Present on the "living edge" of the Infinity League's expansion Coreward, the Voudzeur Dhagu returned to Tsouu (Knoellighz 1131) to vault their Letter of Marque and begin Privateering against the Ascendancy Pact (Vx).

Ouknal (Knoellighz 1331, D9C6530-6 Fl Ni), in the Ascendancy Pact, is labeled by both the Pact and the Infinity League as 'Doomed'. It has a Tech Level deficiency of -4 and worsens during Hard Times. Even before that era though, the Vodzeur Dhagu took on refugees from the Insidious-Corrosive atmosphere being harvested for industrial acids, cleaners, and other applicable chemical catalysts. But because the Ascendancy Pact provided inadequate, Industrial-Age survival technologies, the harvesting facilities began to Fail just years after collection started there. Vodzeur Dhagu Privateers crossed the gap between polities and began taking on desperate refugees, even those unable to pay money and willing to undergo indenture as slaves to be taken from Ouknal and be sold on Aelkhue (Knoellighz 1031, A202400-C Ht Ic Na Ni) where safer, albeit very cold, mining operations yielded plentiful ice and some titanium deposits.

Due to the smallish Privateer fleet of Vodzeur Dhagu, not all of the 900,000 Ascendancy Pact breaking ranks and running to capture points could be extracted at once. And when the Pact began to see worker roster attendance drop, they hired the Corsairs immediately to Trailing at Vaaenesrouz (Knoellighz 1532) to hunt the thieves. This began a series of cat-and-mouse games between Privateers and Corsairs and sourced many tales of hot extractions, conflicts planetside and starship combat in outer space. It is yet another reason for the bad blood between the Ascendancy Pact and the Infinity League.

When the Zhodani Consulate in Piprninsh Subsector learned of Infinity League Privateers slaving in Khuzedhoth, they amended their trade treaty with the League. While they could condone slaving in the name of saving refugees from a Doomed world, in order to maintain their own Morality's Path ethics, the Ascendancy Pact slaves arriving at Aeklhue must be able to emancipate themselves after a set number of profits was earned from working on the Ice-capped, High-Tech world. The capitalists in the corporations of the League at first grated against this ultimatum. But the Office of the President at Duelunogoerrzuez (Knoellighz 1138) capitulated in return for safe passage of League vessels inside the Crystal Wall of the Zhodani Consulate. To preserve the trade treaty, the Zhodani agreed. After 1110, on the tail of the distant Fifth Frontier War, the Infinity League set policy that slaves could earn their freedom after a set amount of profit, provided the refugees burn their citizenship to the Ascendancy Pact and apply for citizenship in the Infinity League. This "deal with the devil" is explained to captured and AWOL workers of Ouknal before the Challenge Gauntlet slaver ship(s) lift. Any who cannot make such a commitment are released back to the hellish, corrosive world to continue chemicals harvesting and face the wrath of the local authorities.

The Vodzeur Dhagu Privateers in the years between Tsouu's annexation, (the Letter of Marque sealing that deal as well), to the Infinity League and Virus Era made quite a profit in refugee slaving. For both Ouknal and Aelkhue have no Law ratings and Aelkhue has no true government taxing the income of the slavers. Extraction of new slaves is difficult and features the possibility of conflict with mercenary Corsairs, but offers a payout with a slight, endgame ease on the conscience of the Privateers. Corporations bristle at the lack of taxation against Vodzeur Dhagu, but since they too are profiting from the slave mining trade, they protest little to the Office of the President.

Slaves earning their freedom after working a few years on Aelkhue's frozen mines have acclimated to the culture of the Infinity League and often have shed their xenophobia surrounding the League's dealings with the strange Zhodani to Spinward. With little to no rights until their citizenship is confirmed, the slaves can expect to see the Humaniti as trade continues between the two polities. The indentured workers also find that they are quite strong on the lower surface gravity of Aeklhue in comparison to weighty Ouknal. In acclimation to the change, many slaves suffer muscle and bone atrophy and have to receive medical treatment at the local TL-C (12) facilities.
