Araksa is an icy vacuum world with little or no atmosphere and a significant quantity of water frozen on the surface. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. This world contains an archaeological site with artifacts suspected to be from the now-vanished Ancients. The governance of this world is from Enagoksghaegvae (Knoellighz 2907). This is a high technology world with available technology over the standards for Charted Space. It is a member of Democracy of Greats in the Ourdzoeg Subsector of Knoellighz Sector.

  • On some older star charts, this world is mistakenly referred to as Urrakhorrgguth.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Araksa is a small and hot Vacuum world on the close edge of the Green Band.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

At one time Araksa (Knoellighz 3105) A30456A-E An Ht O:2907 Va of the Democracy of Greats was claimed and colonized in 1095 with Tech Level 12 (C). However, upon discovery of an Ancients time capsule, the world's Tech Level rose to 14 (E) due to the owning corporation's forethought to study and attempt to reverse-engineer the strange technology found there. The outpost Starport, rated D was upgraded to A in 1102 after the discovery and at expensive cost to the owning corporation.

Owned by a Vargr corporation from Enagoksghaegvae (Knoellighz 2907), Araksa features a corporate office in one of the two Down-spaceport's towns. The purchase of the seemingly valueless mainworld yielded far more four years later in 1100 when the Ancients time capsule arrived from antiquity and crushed a drilling vehicle with its great weight and killing four Vargr company miners.

The find was kept a corporate secret from the Democracy of Greats since in 1094 the entire star cluster was denied representation by a Charismatic Great, (see Democracy of Greats, Government & Politics (Leadership)). Instead Thaeghz Hvaek Engnigharr (tr: Pack Pact to Success) T.H.E. Corp, [THE] began widening from its previous industries of belting, mining and refining. The infusion of Ancients technology was only unraveled so far allowing Araksa to climb to TL–14 in erratic steps in different fields and applications. Scientists were hired and sent to this mainworld to continue examination of the enigmatic find. The corporation's successes after the find allowed it to subsume, claim or otherwise purchase the entire Jump-1 cluster of seven systems, some of which needed aid only Thaeghz Hvaek Engnigharr was willing to deliver in return for title over the world.

World Starport[edit]

Araksa has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Technology Level[edit]

Araksa possesses a Technology Level of TL–14 or TL-E in Hexadecimal Notation.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early meson communicators.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, early collectors, and advanced fusion plants.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:

World Government[edit]

Araksa has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. A colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

History Era: 1105[edit]

At 1105, Araksa is still somewhat of a boomtown environment that receives imports of needed materials from Thaeghz Hvaek Engnigharr in order to decipher what has yet to be reverse-engineered of the precursor time capsule. Trade, licensed by the corporation, sees a wide variety of vessels coming and going from the Highport and two shadowed, surface spaceports. A surface-orbit commuting industry is thriving due to the cycling of corporate administrators, mining teams, refining workers, researchers and security forces to and from Araksa.

History Era: Rebellion[edit]

Nigh 1116, the world is still in its height of technology superiority in Ourdzoeg subsector. The Rebellion in the Imperium far to Rimward has little effect on Araksa or its populace. At this time, the Democracy of Greats is suffering a governmental shakeup with territorial claims and battles over the so-called Gateway to Ghoekhnael to Coreward. But due to a lack of any Industrial (In Trade Code) worlds in Ourdzhoeg subsector, there is minimal export of such technology via Thaeghz Hvaek Engnigharr and production is limited.

History Era: Hard Times and Empress Wave[edit]

In 1123, Psions and psionics-trained science teams went mad as the Empress Wave took effect. At first, the time capsule was blamed for the sudden insanity of the sensitives and for a month, the area was cordoned off and sealed. Reports were sent to Thaeghz Hvaek Engnigharr, to no avail for the afflicted.

History-Era: New Era[edit]

It is not until 1133 that Virus strikes the subsector and cuts Araksa off from its parent corporation as Vampire fleets prowl the star cluster for targets. The Highport is destroyed, raining debris down upon the planet's surface, in a bitter space battle despite lack of aid from the two nearby Greats' fleets, (who had Vampire problems of their own at the time). But because of the precursor capsule, much technology was secluded and hidden, cut off from the planetary civilization, preventing its annihilation by orbital bombardment. Though the entire subsector of Ourdzoeg joins the Wilds, Araksa is one of the first worlds liberated by quarantine protocols. Before 1150, brave Vargr souls kept the passage to and from Araksa open at great risk, saving the inhabitants from sinking in Population rating. Where many Jump-1 mains of the Greats are in shambles, Araksa weathers the New Era but at significant assets cost.
