Llaenaekaesghaeghz has a trace atmosphere and water available in the form of ice. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. This is a cold world with an overall climate at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance. It is a member of Democracy of Greats in the Thoeg Subsector of Knoellighz Sector.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Slightly smaller than Terran-normal and with a low surface gravity, this world produces Vargr that are lithe, fast and stealthy. The trace atmosphere means that everyone must utilize their favorite Vacc Suit outside the pressurized den communities of ice and mountainous rock. Water split into liquid hydrogen and oxygen is the main export and industry, allowing the 500,000 citizens to live in the uninviting atmosphere. Fuel is sold Refined at expensive rates, with Unrefined fuel in the majority.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The House War on Llaenaekaesghaeghz has Balkanized this mainworld only in that planetary law has banned the average citizen from engaging or enlisting in the conflicts. Mining Houses that employ workers expect them to keep mining polar ice and glaciers as well as the equatorial petrochemicals via drilling and fracking. The Vargr Houses on the very end of the Bridge of Destiny do battle by hiring deadly assassins for singular missions against members of other Houses. Open combat warfare is expressly forbidden by an aire of genteel, noble behavior. The Houses are generous benefactors to the working class yet brutally oppose each other. Media nets across the planet try their hardest to be first on the scene of a successful report of an assassination or the dispatching of a failed assassin to cover tracks. For an assassin to accept a mission carries with it the assured promise from the hiring House of death to the hired murderer, either by House members, security, or by the commoner who detects one.

With such cloak and dagger conflicts under a veneer of gentility, weapons that can kill more than one Vargr per squeeze of the trigger are banned. Exact ranged weaponry is expected of assassins, with Shotguns and explosives being banned as stringently as any other means of mass or small unit destruction. Some assassins are bold enough to kill with melee weapons or even more valiantly, by Infighting. Media sensationalism over successful assassinations is slightly eclipsed by those House members who manage to fight an assassin off or eliminate their hunters themselves. Stories and holovids of reenactments of famous assassinations or foiled attempts are primetime entertainment.

Despite their eccentricities, the Houses on this planet are somehow able to contribute to the greater polity, the Democracy of Greats.

Corsairs in the northern polar region in a glacial hangar cavern have begun to adopt this world's assassination means of selecting new pack leaders, though Infighting still holds appeal when off-world. Yet all such niceties are off when a Corsair vessel from this mainworld engages merchants, rival Corsairs and Privateers -- and avoids Naval fleets.
