History & Background (Dossier)

Ghaekuethea (Knoellighz 2410) C7368B8-8 Ph in the Rimward-Trailing corner of Rourukhae Subsector features a Yellow primary star (G7 V), a Yellow-Orange (K4 V) secondary star, each orbited by their own late-stage, (one captured), Red Dwarfs. The mainworld of Ghaekuethea resides in the habitable zone of the primary star. The Red Dwarf (M7 D) orbits the primary in a closer orbit inside the habitable zone. The Yellow-Orange secondary illuminates the outer orbits of the system, beyond the only planetoid belt. Distributed among the two major stars are four Gas Giants, the innermost of which boasts extensive ice rings. The axis of the cooler of the Dwarfs, the Red Dwarf (M8 D) about the Yellow-Orange star, has a steep angle tilt and rotation. This suggests that it may have been captured as it attempted to pass through the outer system. Its orbit revolution is eccentric and declined to the rest of the system’s orbits. Further evidence of the arrival of the cooler Red Dwarf is heralded by a few ice comets dragged from the Oort Cloud of this world in the wake of the captured star.

Vargr astronomers of the Democracy of Greats are studying the outer Red Dwarf for its cooling tendency and expect it to dip into the Brown Dwarf (T or Y) classification within a few million years.

The increased radiation from just beyond the orbit of the only planetoid belt has yielded a plethora of radioactive elements as well as meteoric iron, making this belt valuable to prospectors. Many of these space miners avoid the outer, Yellow-orange star and its strange Red Dwarf due to its gravity. Instead, seekers seek the system’s far side of the belt away from the orbiting star to conduct extraction operations.

The mainworld of Ghaekuethea falls just short of a normal gravity, managing only 0.9 at its surface. Its atmosphere is very Thin, with a 0.41 pressure that requires the 800 million Vargr to utilize pressured domes, underground arcologies, or personal Respirators to condense a good breath of air. Large oceans separate five continents and encompass sixty percent of the hydrosphere.

The Dictator conquered this world with help from the starships of the local Corsair Base. Stabilized at Tech Level 8, Ghaekuethea is allowed to field spacecraft and commute the system to prospect at the nearby planetoid belt and return with hauls for refining. There is a C-rated Downport on the mainworld and it is guarded by the local Corsair band. Their Corsair Base is hidden in the innermost bands of the only planetoid belt, close enough to respond if signaled. Thus far, the Corsair band has raided only nearby Agricultural worlds for needs not locally produced. The nearby Naval Bases and fleet of the Charismatic Great of this Jump-1 main have yet to deem them a true threat. Yet there is a secret faction plotting to overthrow the Dictator in league with the cloistering Corsairs. As of 1119, civil war is imminent especially with smuggled aid from other worlds of the same main who want to punish the piracy of this region.
