Delphi Sector is an old sector and yet still largely a cipher throughout much of the Third Imperium.
- It is located near both the powerful Solomani Confederation and the enigmatic Hive Federation, and yet despite those presences, is not really defined by either.
- The Delphi Rift is the most prominent astrographic feature in the region, but it scarcely affects internal trade or security arrangements. Determined enemies simply go around it.
- The Domain of Sylea, and the Tukera Lines megacorporation with its associated nobility, have certainly ruled Delphi for many years, and yet the big squabbles between such interests are typically fought outside of the sector.
- Perhaps the associated factoid best known to Imperial citizens is that Delphi is the origin of the Lowalaa, a rather remarkable lifeform that has become a widely recognized symbol of trust, caring, and loyalty within the sector and without.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The presence of the Delphi Rift kept this area from forming a higher stellar density when this part of Galaxias formed. The area is additionally known for a number of strange micro anomalies dotted throughout Delphian interstellar space known, simply, as the Delphic Anomalies. Some believe that these anomalies might be related to the Final War of the Ancients. Neither the Vilani under the Ziru Sirka nor the Terrans under the Rule of Man ever solved the mystery.
The sector receives much coreward-rimward interstellar traffic, but little spinward-trailing commerce due to the Delphi Rift. Even with this great barrier, much traffic ebbs in through the Rimward Hub region of the Greater Delphi Cluster, a line of worlds with several mains sneaking along the rimward edge of the sector.
Physcial Astrography[edit]
The following astrographic data regarding the sector has been determined:
- It is a low to average density region.
- The sector is dominated by the Delphi Rift.
- The brightest star in the sector is the red bright giant primary of the Quezo system.
Stellar Distribution[edit]
A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Delphi Sector, right:
- The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
- The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.
Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.
- Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
- Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the sector and far beyond.
Rift Regions[edit]
Delphi Sector is dominated by the Delphi Rift, a major rift region, and also contains a number of minor voids that are too small to qualify as a true rift. These various areas of lower stellar density serve to hamper travel and restrict commerce within its boundaries.
- Jump-2 and Jump-3 corridors of stars, the arteries of interstellar trade connecting the various clusters, wind between them.
Named rift regions include:
- Delphi Rift. Covering much of the trailing part of the Sector, it forms a natural barrier to expansion.
- Dethenes Rift
Nature of Rifts[edit]
Locally at least, a rift is an astrographic concept based purely on Jump Drive performance.
Rift regions generally relate to regular commercial traffic and the way it travels between destinations. Merchant vessels with jump-4 drives or better are fairly rare because of the higher costs involved in operating the vessel, the lower revenue generated by the reduced cargo space due to the need for large fuel tanks, and the relative paucity of technologically advanced maintenance facilities within the region. As a result, the vast majority of merchant vessels are capable of jump-3 or less.
- Large areas that cannot be crossed by Jump-3-capable vessels are denoted as rifts.
- The nature and borders of a rift may be determined by other criteria in different regions.
In order to qualify as a rift, the region must have ten or more contiguous hexes. Many areas have minor void regions that are too small to qualify as a true rift, but are still significant enough to seriously hamper and channel interstellar travel.
Military vessels and specialist ships such as couriers are often only marginally affected by the presence of smaller rifts. Larger rift regions have a greater significance, requiring lengthy detours or complex refueling operations or creating bottlenecks that even the longest range vessels are forced to travel through.
World Listing[edit]
Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds lying within Delphi Sector is available.
- The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
- Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
- Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
- Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.
AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:
Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, may already be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
Economic Astrography[edit]
The sector is a rich trade zone with many high technology markets. It is rare that a trader cannot load or unload a cargo hold. The following commercial and economic data regarding the sector is available:
Importance[edit]
A chart is provided showing importance as green circles centered on a world, with larger circles indicating greater importance and overlapping circles giving an overview of a region's economic significance. While importance is largely a measure of raw economic power, other influencing factors include starport quality, political significance, a high planetary habitability rating, or even the local culture.
Importance also gives a good indication of the sphere of influence that individual worlds exert.
Corporations[edit]
Corporations and organizations active within the sector include:
- General Products, an Imperial megacorporation involved in heavy industry and manufacturing.
- GSbAG, an Imperial megacorporation involved in ship construction.
- Hortalez et Cie, an Imperial megacorporation specializing in banking and finance.
- Ling Standard Products, an Imperial megacorporation engaged in widescale resource extraction and processing.
- Makhidkarun, an Imperial megacorporation specializing in communications and entertainment.
- Naasirka, an Imperial megacorporation with long historical ties to the region and specializing in electronics and robotics.
- Sharurshid, an Imperial megacorporation specializing in finance and commerce.
- Star Patterns Trading, a Hiver corporation involved in transport and logistics. It maintains good relations with both the Solomani Confederation and the Imperium.
- SuSAG, an Imperial megacorporation specializing in commercial chemistry, pharmaceuticals, and genetic engineering.
- Transstar, a Solomani megacorporation specializing in transport and logistics. It operates across 13 sectors, represented by the 13 stars in its logo.
- Tukera Lines, an Imperial megacorporation specializing in transport and logistics.
- Zirunkariish, a Vilani megacorporation specializing in investment, finance, and insurance.
Security & Defense[edit]
The Imperial Navy patrols the worlds of the sector. It defends Imperial territory, suppresses piracy, and ensures trade and commerce.
Trade Routes[edit]
High cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels move along the clusters and traces of the sector, carrying vast amounts of goods and commodities between their member worlds. Jump-2 and Jump-3 feeder routes work their ways around the rifts and voids that dot the region, linking the various clusters and traces.
Mains[edit]
Main is an astrographic term for groups of 50 or more systems that are accessible by jump-1-capable starships.
Mains are highlighted in green: five mains lie within the sector.
- Delphi Main
- Ganad Main
- Khavle Main: widely known within Delphi as the Geonee Main because significant trade occurs with the core Geonee worlds in Massilia Sector.
- Terzin Run
- Tharrynra Main
Clusters[edit]
Cluster is a broad astrographic term for groups of between 10 and 50 systems that are accessible by jump-1-capable starships.
Clusters are highlighted in tan: thirteen clusters lie wholly or partially within the sector.
- Anise Cluster
- Breda Cluster
- Greater Delphi Cluster, including the Rimward Hub region.
- Braaza Arm (sometimes called the Disappointment Arm).
- Gushamad Arm
- Passing
- Rimward Hub
- Kamikir Cluster
- Lashkagur Cluster
- Mikkim Cluster
- Tooka Cluster
- Ychea Cluster
- Voskl Cluster
Traces[edit]
Trace is an astrographic term for groups of between 5 and 10 systems that are accessible by jump-1-capable starships.
Traces are highlighted in brown: nine trace-sized clusters of worlds lie wholly or partially within the sector.
Jump Bridges[edit]
Jump Bridges are locations within empty hexes that contain caches of fuel and supplies. They allow lower jump rating vessels to bridge gaps between distant worlds by providing a halfway point. The hexes they lie within are vast, and without exact coordinates to jump to within it a vessel could end up with empty tanks in empty wilderness, perhaps as much as a light-year away from any hope of rescue. Where they do exist, Jump Bridges are heavily guarded and access is not generally granted to those without the correct credentials.
- No commercial jump bridges are known to currently exist within the sector.
- It has long been rumored that the Imperium, Imperial megacorporations, or other interests may maintain covert jump bridge facilities at strategically important points, but no reliable proof of this has ever been provided.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Indigenic Notes: There are three sophont alien races native to Delphi, but no native surviving Minor Human Races.
- Given the almost complete lack of Ancient archeological sites within the sector, the prevailing theory is that any humans brought to Delphi were killed during the Final War.
Notes: There are two major races (other than Humaniti) in Delphi:
- The Vargr have a small pocket around Oeltou (Delphi 1213), which almost constitutes a pocket empire.
- The Droyne are on three worlds, with just enough interest in the affairs of others to have been granted a Marquis.
Native Sophonts (NIL): 1116[edit]
The following races (sophont species) are believed to have originated within this area:
Demographics: 1116[edit]
Significant populations of the following races (sophont species) reside within this area:

Linguistic Topography: 1105[edit]
The following languages are among the most commonly used within this astrographic region:
- Languages of Humaniti:
- Core Anglic: One of the principal dialects of one of the two official languages of the Third Imperium.
- Vilani: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium.
- Irkonee: The predominate language of the Geonee.
- Ral Rantan: The language of the fiercely independent Ral Ranta culture.

- Languages of Major non-Human Races:
In terms of location names within the sector, the long history of settlement and colonization by multiple cultures has resulted in a linguistic blend. World names are a mix of Vilani, various Terran languages, Irkonee, Kadli, Bhunj languages, and the languages of local Minor Races.
Historical Eras[edit]
Rule of Man[edit]
The Rule of Man inherited spinward Delphi from the Ziru Sirka. This was one of the regions relatively proximate to the Solomani Rim and the Terran Diaspora where Terran colonization was encouraged during the Interstellar Wars. The Terrans often assigned these colonies according to homeworld nation, leading to systems carrying names like "Uganda", "Mexican", "Irishmen", and "Napoleonic" (in reference to a French offshoot society).
Eager to reclaim the opportunity for long-range mercantile endeavour that they'd lost after the Consolidation Wars, the Bhunj of Fornast Sector embraced Solomani freedoms of the Rule of Man. They established a series of outposts to support expeditions to major worlds in Delphi like Ychea, Lashkagur, and Anaxias.
Despite these colonization and commercial activities, much of Delphi's history is obscure to modern historians. If rumours that Lashkagur is the Guy-Troy homeworld are accurate, then the concerted effort to control and remake their society while erasing their history might explain the general uncertainty. Some historians also lay blame on the broad brush of their predecessors in Massilia Sector, who often swept Delphi's accomplishments into the history of Massilia instead of acknowledging it as its own region.
Long Night and Early Third Imperium[edit]
By at least -530, the Free Human League had been formed by worlds around Vashtii. This loose coalition of worlds had a centralized military based in Eta-Gu and Riramla subsectors. The League's major trading partners prior to the Pacification Campaigns were the Ychean Empire, which dominated what became the Aklan Subsector, and Ral Ranta, which then extended into Zuma and Breda subsectors.

Politics & Diplomacy (Interstellar Relations)[edit]
This astrographic region has long been a fertile bed of the old nobility, separatists, seething conquered peoples, and foreign powers. Many competing trade powers, cartels, and syndicates further complicate the matter. The Rule of Man once planted racial seeds of contention into the area as well.
