Description (Specifications)[edit]

(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)

The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding the subsector:

Astrographic Features[edit]

The subsector is a generally unremarkable area lying within the Solomani Confederation.

  • It is an average stellar density region.
  • The brightest star is the blue-white subgiant primary of the Beta Aurigae system.

Stellar Distribution[edit]

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Sephi Hydra Subsector, right:

  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

Trade Routes[edit]

Simonides Run. (Chart sourced from Traveller Map).
Belarius Cluster. (Chart sourced from Traveller Map).
Yalu Cluster. (Chart sourced from Traveller Map).

Three trade routes, the important Simonides Run and the less significant Belarius and Yalu Clusters, lie within the region. High cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels move along them, carrying huge amounts of goods and commodities between their member worlds.

Less profitable higher jump rating merchant vessels conduct trade and commerce among the region's outlying worlds.

Simonides Run[edit]

The Simonides Run has twelve member systems, making it one of the largest clusters within the sector. Its trailing end lies across the border between Quesada and Sephi Hydra Subsectors.

Belarius Cluster[edit]

The Belarius Cluster has five member systems and lies across the border between Carcosa and Sephi Hydra Subsectors.

Yalu Cluster[edit]

The Yalu Cluster has six member systems. It straddles the border between Aldebaran and Sephi Hydra Subsectors.

World Listing[edit]

Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds that lie within Sephi Hydra Subsector is available.

  • The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
  • Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
  • Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.

AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

During the Rule of Man the subsector was associated with the Terran Mercantile Community, a large paramilitary corporation that became the foundation for the Old Earth Union during the Long Night.

Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.

Polity Listing[edit]

The following polities can be found within this subsector:

Security & Defense[edit]

The worlds of the region are patrolled by the Solomani Navy. It defends Confederation territory, protects Confederation interests, suppresses piracy, and ensures interstellar trade and commerce.

Communications Links[edit]

The Solomani Navy operates couriers and packet ships to carry communications and mail within the Confederation. Some of the routes they make use of predate the founding of the Solomani Autonomous Region while others have far more modern origins, being established following the Solomani Rim War and Solomani independence.

  • Multiple communications routes cross the subsector.

Subsector Summary[edit]

Sephi Hydra, subsector F of Aldebaran, contains 26 worlds with an estimated combined population of 48 billion, a per capita income of Cr5,190, and a total economy of BCr249,875. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr4,169 through 22 starports (8 Class A, 6 Class B, 6 Class C, 2 Class D) employing 647,315 people. Driving this interstellar trade are four Agricultural (Ag) worlds, one Non-Agricultural (Na) world, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, one Pre-Industrial (Pi) world, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and two Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Sephi Hydra maintain five Naval bases and three Military bases. The average technology level is 9 (with most between 7 and 12). The highest technology level is 13 at Massina (Aldebaran 1019), Qiu Xue (Aldebaran 1113), Willeson (Aldebaran 1216), Simonides (Aldebaran 1314), and Hodel (Aldebaran 1611).

Sephi Hydra, subsector F of Aldebaran, contains 38 stars and 276 identified planets; 14 monostellar systems, 12 binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 24 of the 26 systems (92%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, no Desert (De) worlds, four Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, six Poor (Po) worlds, one Vacuum (Va) world, and one Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) world.

Sephi Hydra has an estimated population of 48 billion distributed across six High population (Hi) worlds, one Moderate population (Ph) world, ten Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, seven Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Yalu (Aldebaran 1211) and Willeson (Aldebaran 1216). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups.

Solomani Confederation[edit]

The Solomani Confederation has jurisdiction over 24 worlds in the subsector with an estimated combined population of 48 billion, a per capita income of Cr5,195, and a total economy of BCr249,583. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr4,166 through 21 starports (8 Class A, 6 Class B, 5 Class C, 2 Class D) employing 646,810 people. Driving this interstellar trade are four Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and two Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in the Solomani Confederation maintain five Naval bases and three Military bases within the subsector. The average technology level is 10 (with most between 7 and 12). The highest technology level is 13 at Massina (Aldebaran 1019), Qiu Xue (Aldebaran 1113), Willeson (Aldebaran 1216), Simonides (Aldebaran 1314), and Hodel (Aldebaran 1611).
