Sephi Hydra Subsector is subsector F of Aldebaran Sector.
- It is a core region of the Solomani Confederation.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding the subsector:
Astrographic Features[edit]
The subsector is a generally unremarkable area lying within the Solomani Confederation.
- It is an average stellar density region.
- The brightest star is the blue-white subgiant primary of the Beta Aurigae system.
Stellar Distribution[edit]
A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Sephi Hydra Subsector, right:
- The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
- The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.
Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.
- Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
- Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.
Economic Astrography[edit]
Corporations[edit]
Corporations and organizations active within the subsector include:
- ConTech, a corporation specializing in life sciences, particularly large-scale bio-terraforming projects, medicine, and cloning.
- Lamarck Minerals, a corporation with a relatively small core area of operations in the Solomani Rim, but with growing interests in resource extraction and processing throughout the Solomani Sphere.
- Orion Metallurgy Corporation (OMC), engaged in resource exploration, extraction, and processing throughout the Solomani Sphere.
- Panstellar, a major transport and logistics corporation.
- Probable Technologies, a scientific research organization involved with academia and heavy industry. It works extensively with the Confederation military.
- Rising Phoenix News Service (RPNS), the premier news and media organization within the Solomani Sphere. It has a strong pro-Confederation bias.
- Solomani Shipping, a major transport and logistics corporation.
- Transstar, a Solomani megacorporation specializing in transport and logistics. It operates across 13 sectors, represented by the 13 stars in its logo.
- ZeeCorp, a corporation with interests in manufacturing active throughout the Solomani Confederation. It is a major producer of robots.
Trade Routes[edit]
Three trade routes, the important Simonides Run and the less significant Belarius and Yalu Clusters, lie within the region. High cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels move along them, carrying huge amounts of goods and commodities between their member worlds.
Less profitable higher jump rating merchant vessels conduct trade and commerce among the region's outlying worlds.
Simonides Run[edit]
The Simonides Run has twelve member systems, making it one of the largest clusters within the sector. Its trailing end lies across the border between Quesada and Sephi Hydra Subsectors.
- It is named for Simonides, an economically important exotic atmosphere industrial world.
Belarius Cluster[edit]
The Belarius Cluster has five member systems and lies across the border between Carcosa and Sephi Hydra Subsectors.
- It is named for Belarius, an economically significant agricultural garden world currently under military rule.
Yalu Cluster[edit]
The Yalu Cluster has six member systems. It straddles the border between Aldebaran and Sephi Hydra Subsectors.
- It is named for Yalu, a high population garden world.
World Listing[edit]
Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds that lie within Sephi Hydra Subsector is available.
- The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
- Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
- Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:
Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, may already be out of date.
- Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
During the Rule of Man the subsector was associated with the Terran Mercantile Community, a large paramilitary corporation that became the foundation for the Old Earth Union during the Long Night.
Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.
Polity Listing[edit]
The following polities can be found within this subsector:
- Solomani Confederation (Solomani powers)
- Non-Aligned Powers (World-States)
- Non-Aligned, (Human Dominated (NaHu).
Security & Defense[edit]
The worlds of the region are patrolled by the Solomani Navy. It defends Confederation territory, protects Confederation interests, suppresses piracy, and ensures interstellar trade and commerce.
- Confederation vessels may demand customs inspections.
- Some systems are defended by local naval forces.
Communications Links[edit]
The Solomani Navy operates couriers and packet ships to carry communications and mail within the Confederation. Some of the routes they make use of predate the founding of the Solomani Autonomous Region while others have far more modern origins, being established following the Solomani Rim War and Solomani independence.
- Multiple communications routes cross the subsector.
Native Sophonts[edit]
No Native Intelligent Lifeforms (sophont species) are believed to have originated within this subsector.
Demographics[edit]
Significant populations of the following races (sophont species) reside within this area:
- Humaniti (Human races)
- Solomani (Major Race): Widely spread across the region.
- Non-Human Races
- Aslan (Major Race): A small settlement on Bering.
- Kwaz of Kvazaat (minor race): Populations are now established on the subsector's agricultural worlds.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Delphinic Trinary, the principal language of Dolphins.
- Euxene French, a Terran language principally spoken in the Euxene Cluster.
- Latin, an ancient Terran language used by the Church of Quesada.
- Quesadan Spanish, an Iberian Dialect of the Spanish subfamily of languages of Terran origin spoken principally in the Grand United States of Quesada.
- Native Kwaz languages.
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
- Trokh, the language of the Aslan.
