Hodel is a nonindustrial fluid world.

  • A fluid world has an oceanic geography of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
  • It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Sephi Hydra Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Hodel is a small-standard, tidally-locked world orbiting well outside the life-zone of its small, M-class primary. It is cold, with oceans of liquid methane-ethane. The atmosphere is a dense mixture of nitrogen and methane. A respirator, air supply, and heavy clothing are required outside. The cold pole has an "ice-cap" of frozen methane-ethane, and the significant temperature difference across the hemispheres results in significant, but not unusually violent, wind patterns.

Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]

There are 4 known continents in the world-ocean, 1 straddles the twilight zone, 2 are near the warm-pole, and 1 extends slightly from under the ice-cap.

History & Background / Dossier[edit]

A colony of Simonides, often promoted as Simonides II in marketing campaigns due to its similarities to its ruling world. The technologies, structures, industries, and way of life was essentially a life-and-shift transfer, making starting the colony much simpler. Simonides invested heavily on the front-end, building a full-service Class A starport to build on.

World Starport[edit]

Hodel has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Technology Level[edit]

Hodel possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:

World Government[edit]

Hodel has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. A colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

World Law Level[edit]

Hodel has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
