Yalu is a high-population garden world with a billion or more sophonts in population size and a near-ideal utopian environment conducive to most sophonts.
- Its economy and population are rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to quickly rise barring outside forces.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Sephi Hydra Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- It is a member of the Yalu Cluster.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Yalu is a binary star system.
- The primary is a white main sequence.
- The secondary is an orange main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x10 secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 planetoid belts.
- x1 gas giant.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Yalu is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Yalu has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.
- It experiences generally moderate temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Yalu has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
Yalu (formally The World of (the deity) Yalu) is a small-standard-sized world with a very clean, standard atmosphere, 2 large oceans, and polar ice-caps.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Yalu was settled towards the end of the Rule of Man. Due to religious-society pressures, the population of Yalu ballooned during the Long Night, causing the population to be in a state of continual near-starvation. Nearly all resources were historically focused on providing adequate food, shelter, and clean water by a well-meaning, but religiously-rigid Church of God (worshipping a deity called Yalu).
With recontact in the 4th century, the religious government immediately embraced TL–12 technologies, and has been implementing advanced power grids, agriculture, aquaculture, and heavy-grav transport since that time. It is still attempting to maintain its historical level of control, but is now constantly debating opening or loosening aspects of its rule-set now that the threat of perpetual starvation has receded.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Yalu has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Yalu has a population of 20,000,000,000 sophonts (tens of billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
- The population almost entirely consists of Solomani Humans.
Urbanization[edit]
Rigidly spaced urban centers near water sources are the general rule. Most cities are now updated to TL–12 standards, with some historical preservation efforts.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Yalu possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-3.
World Government (G)[edit]
Yalu is governed by a Religious Autocracy. This is a direct theocracy where the government head is a single person who is also the head of the religious organization. The Church hierarchy also serves as the government bureaucracy.
World Law (L)[edit]
Yalu has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. Most worlds with this law level may be an Amber Zone or Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). All aspects of life rigidly controlled. There is no difference between the police and the military. This world is a full-fledged police state. Oppression is legalized, though not routine.
The religious philosophy has a environmental element that has legally banned pollution of the environment.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 3 (ordinary)
World Economy[edit]
Environmental considerations have historically greatly impacted economic and technological advancement on Yalu, until the import of the TL–12 fusion reactors.
- Resources: E (extremely abundant)
- Labor: 9 (billions)
- Infrastructure: 8 (generally available)
- Efficiency: -3 (poor)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 9 (discordant)
- Acceptance: D (very xenophilic)
- Strangeness: 4 (somewhat distinct)
- Symbols: B (abstract)
