Eurynome is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.

  • In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Sephi Hydra Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.
  • It is a chilly tundra world, with a climate of low temperatures.
  • This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation, including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
  • This world has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships.
  • This world has a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces.
  • It is a member of the Simonides Run.
  • It is home to a community of Dolphins.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Eurynome is a binary star system.

  • The primary is a yellow main sequence.
  • The secondary is a red main sequence.
Eurynome has two stars in the star system.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Eurynome orbits towards the outer edge of its star's habitable zone.

Chart Orbit HZ- Region Detailed.png

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Eurynome is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Eurynome has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Eurynome has 85-95% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few small continents, and a number of islands and archipelagos. Dry land is limited. Wilderness refueling is possible.

  • The world-ocean is littered with icebergs and pack ice.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

A particularly deep world-ocean covers most of the surface of the planet: there is one continent in the northern hemisphere, as well as a subcontinental landmasses and numerous scattered archipelagoes and islands.

  • It has extensive ice caps. The northern pole is larger and extends into the world's major continent.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Abundant aquatic native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

  • Primitive land-based lifeforms occupy a number of ecological niches.
  • Native lifeforms are cryophilic - they thrive in low temperatures.
  • There are major efforts to categorize the marine life for possible aquacultural development. This effort is currently headed by Professor Tseekwakitat, a Dolphin scientist of some repute.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Eurynome is a member of the Simonides Run, a cluster and locally important trade route.

This system is strategically located near the Grand United States of Quesada. As the Eurynome mainworld is the only source of water in-system, and there are no gas giants available for refueling, the Solomani Confederation developed the system as a military hardpoint, constructing a Class-A starport, full Naval base, and a StarMarine base including planet-side training facilities.

The population follows the Church of Quesada. The Quesadan Inquisition has no authority on the world.

Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Eurynome has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Eurynome has a population of 1,000,000 sophonts (millions).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
  • More than 95% of the population (in excess of 950,000 individuals) is made up of Solomani humans.
  • Less than 5% of the population (fewer than 50,000 individuals) consists of Dolphins.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly heard languages are:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Eurynome possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Eurynome has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

The government is controlled by a military junta.

World Military[edit]

There is a relatively large planetary army and wet navy. These forces extensively coordinate Solomani Confederation Navy and Marines present in the system.

World Law (L)[edit]

Eurynome has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).

Trade Data[edit]

World Economy[edit]

Military operations support; scientific exploration.
