Beta Aurigae is a low-population vacuum world, with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts, warranting hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- This is a tidally-locked world with one side permanently locked to a gravity source and the other permanently facing away. Most commonly locked worlds are natural satellites of a larger planet or gas giant.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Sephi Hydra Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.

System Data[edit]
Beta Aurigae is an eclipsing binary star system consisting of two stars of roughly the same size and mass. Both components have the stellar classification A1m IV, indicating metallic-line subgiant stars appearing white in colour.
Beta Aurigae A has 2.389 solar masses and a radius 2.77 times that of the Sun. With a surface temperature of 9,350 K, it is 48 times more luminous than the Sun. The star’s estimated age is 570 million years. Beta Aurigae B has similar properties: 2.327 solar masses, 2.63 solar radii, and a luminosity 48 times that of the Sun with an effective temperature of 9,200 K.
The two components are so close together – about a fifth of the Sun-Mercury distance – that their shapes have been distorted by their gravitational interaction. As a result, the stars are distinctly egg-shaped.

World Starport[edit]
Beta Aurigae has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Technology Level[edit]
Beta Aurigae possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World Government[edit]
Beta Aurigae is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.
World Law Level[edit]
Beta Aurigae has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Machine guns, other automatic weapons, portable energy weapons, and other military weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
