The Kwaz of Kvazaat (Aldebaran 0712) are a Minor Non-Human Race with a non-humanoid appearance.

  • They are technologically sophisticated sophonts.
  • They are also known as Kvaz.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

A physically diminutive species, the Kwaz (or 'Chuckies', as many Humans flippantly call them) find employment as agricultural day laborers throughout the Solomani Confederation.

"Chuckie" is an old Terran term, originating in the northern part of the British archipelago, referring to individuals who are nervous, easily frightened, or display excessive shyness.

General Psychology[edit]

Kwaz exhibit recognized characteristics of intelligence:

  • Conceptual thought, including abstract language.
  • Social structure, including social organization.
  • Tool use, allowing environmental manipulation.

Kwaz psychology is driven by factors common to many sophonts:

  • Acquisition (stemming from the need to gather adequate nutrition),
  • Preservation (derived from the need to continue their personal existence), and
  • Perpetuation (the urge to continue the species).

Native Culture[edit]

Kwaz, as a prey species, exhibit an extremely strong instinct to "flee" from danger.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The Imperial Interstellar Scout Service recommended that Red Zone interdiction be imposed on Kvazaat to protect the Kwaz. The Solomani Colonial Office ignored these recommendations and the Kwaz homeworld was fully opened to Solomani settlement in 856.

During the Solomani Rim War, the Confederation attempted to "relocate" a number of non-Human races to other worlds, principally to fill gaps in the labor market caused by Humans serving in the military. Large numbers of Kwaz were moved to various planets to assist with agricultural tasks. Their services remain in demand, they have integrated relatively well where they have settled, and generally they are thriving -- if still easily spooked.
