Aldebaran Subsector, subsector B of Aldebaran Sector, is controlled by the Solomani Confederation and contains the Confederation's capital, Home (Aldebaran 1009).

The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding the subsector:

Astrographic Features[edit]

The subsector is a generally unremarkable area lying within the Solomani Confederation.

Stellar Distribution[edit]

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Aldebaran Subsector, right:

  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

Rift Regions[edit]

The subsector contains two rift regions:

Locally at least, a rift is an astrographic and commercial concept based on Jump Drive performance.

  • Most commercial vessels typically use Jump Drives capable of Jump-3 or less.
  • Areas that cannot be crossed by Jump-3-capable vessels are denoted as rifts.
  • Rifts represent a considerable obstacle to interstellar trade and commerce.

Trade Routes[edit]

Aquitaine Cluster. (Chart sourced from Traveller Map).
Dahir Cluster. (Chart sourced from Traveller Map).
Yalu Cluster. (Chart sourced from Traveller Map).

Three trade routes, the Aquitaine Cluster, the Dahir Cluster, and the Yalu Cluster, lie within the region. High cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels move along them, carrying huge amounts of goods and commodities between their member worlds.

Less profitable higher jump rating merchant vessels conduct trade and commerce among the region's outlying worlds.

Dahir Cluster[edit]

The Aquitaine Cluster has eight member systems. It principally lies within Capella Subsector of the Solomani Rim.

Dahir Cluster[edit]

The Dahir Cluster has seven member systems.

Yalu Cluster[edit]

The Yalu Cluster has six member systems.

Security & Defense[edit]

The worlds of the region are patrolled by the Solomani Navy. It defends Confederation territory, protects Confederation interests, suppresses piracy, and ensures interstellar trade and commerce.

The Solomani Navy operates couriers and packet ships to carry communications and mail within the Confederation. Some of the routes they make use of predate the founding of the Solomani Autonomous Region in the early 8th Century, while others have more modern origins, being established following the Solomani Rim War and Solomani independence.

  • Multiple communications routes cross the subsector.

World Listing[edit]

Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds lying within Aldebaran Subsector is available.

  • The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
  • Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
  • Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.

AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:

Summary[edit]

Aldebaran, subsector B of Aldebaran, contains 16 worlds with an estimated combined population of 121 billion, a per capita income of Cr9,595, and a total economy of BCr1,161,017. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr7,755 through 15 starports (4 Class A, 7 Class B, 3 Class C, 1 Class D) employing 1,249,840 people. Driving this interstellar trade are one Agricultural (Ag) world, one Non-Agricultural (Na) world, two Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, two Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, two Rich (Ri) worlds, and two Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Aldebaran maintain five Naval bases and three Military bases. The average technology level is 11 (with most between 9 and 14). The highest technology level is 15 at Darsei (Aldebaran 1401).

Aldebaran, subsector B of Aldebaran, contains 21 stars and 156 identified planets; 12 monostellar systems, three binary systems, one trinary system, and no systems with four or more stars. 12 of the 16 systems (75%) have native gas giants. There are one Asteroid (As) belt, no Desert (De) worlds, three Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, three Poor (Po) worlds, one Vacuum (Va) world, and no Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Aldebaran has an estimated population of 121 billion distributed across four High population (Hi) worlds, two Moderate population (Ph) worlds, three Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, five Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Dahir (Aldebaran 1404), Liao (Aldebaran 1202), and Inerria (Aldebaran 1105). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups.

Solomani Confederation[edit]

The Solomani Confederation has jurisdiction over all of the worlds with an estimated combined population of 121 billion, a per capita income of Cr9,595, and a total economy of BCr1,161,017. The governments in the Solomani Confederation maintain five Naval bases and three Military bases within the subsector. The average technology level is 11 (with most between 9 and 14). The highest technology level is 15 at Darsei (Aldebaran 1401).

The Solomani Confederation has an estimated population of 121 billion within the subsector, distributed across four High population (Hi) worlds, two Moderate population (Ph) worlds, three Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, five Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Dahir (Aldebaran 1404), Liao (Aldebaran 1202), and Inerria (Aldebaran 1105). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups.
