Lagrange (world)

Lagrange is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- This dangerous world is designated an Amber Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it dangerous to visitors.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Aldebaran Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.
Description / Astrography & Planetology[edit]

System Data[edit]
0 Gas Giants — 0 Planetoid Belts — 6 Other Worlds
The Lagrange system is dangerously dry. There are few natural resources that can be used for emergency refueling. Attached to this assessment is a list of water-ice asteroids and their trajectories that have been noted in the outer system that could be accessed in extremity.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Lagrange is the largest dry rock, in a collection of dry rocks, with a trace atmosphere. It is a small world, after all. Vaccsuits are required outside of structures.
Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]
Lagrange planetary features are mostly impact craters.
Mainworld Map[edit]
Just look for the beacons.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
None. Rock, see above.

World Starport[edit]
Lagrange has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Technology Level[edit]
Lagrange possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-4.
World Government[edit]
Lagrange is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.
World Law Level[edit]
Lagrange has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A world with this law level may be an Amber Zone or a Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked. There is no legal concept of privacy (save for those who can claim necessity for official government business). The police are free to inspect anyone and anything at any time.
All water sources are required to be disclosed. Water resources above 400 liters per person are subject to confiscation. There is a strict exchange rate for credits-deciliter, currently at 100 Cr/dl.
Current fission and fusion reactors provide both power and materials, using local materials, but the process is highly energy intensive, and is straining capacity. Water imports are highly prized, and valuable. Smuggling is a constant problem for officials.
World Military[edit]
No information yet available.
World Economy[edit]
Lagrange operates a subsistence economy. It may be able to export metals and phosphorus compounds with some advancements.
Almost all of the refined fuel is kept at the Highport for sale. Given the system-wide drought, this fuel supply represents the bulk of the excess hydrogen production of Lagrange. The fuel costs here are (ahem) astronomical at 10x normal prices, currently; it has gone as high as 25x. It is objectively of extreme purity, which may have some technical advantages.
As Lagrange lies at a Jump-4 trade intersection, it owns a desperately needed resource monopoly here.
Trade Data[edit]
Water imports are critical.
World Demographics[edit]
Humaniti 100%
World Culture[edit]
The overall population is fairly small, and many of the original inhabitants and immigrants were or are hiding from something, somewhere. No questions are asked regarding origin here.
Urbanization[edit]
Standard Solomani vacuum construction.
