Spica Sector is a vital crossroads between the Hive Federation and the Solomani.
Description (Specifications)
The Hivers dominate the region's trade market and as memories of the relatively recent Solomani Rim War fade, more and more merchants and traders are frequenting the area.
- The areas within the Solomani Sphere are still recovering from the aftermath of Imperial commerce raiders.
- The Hiver areas are part of the Young Worlds and are a developing frontier region.
- A rich and rapidly developing coreward area of Independent Space attracts much attention and trade.
The area is thus commonly divided into three primary groupings:
- Hiver Space, "Erest"
- Independent Space, "Spican Freespace"
- Solomani Sphere, "Alpha Virginis"
Toponyms: 1105
This sector has been known by different names to different groups over its existence including the following:

Linguistic Topography: 1105
The following languages are among the most commonly used within this astrographic region:
- Anglic: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium, an official language of the Solomani Confederation, and common to many independent human worlds.
- Gurvin: The common language of the Hive Federation and a secondary language in many of its client states.
- Hindi: An old Terran language.
- Hiver Sign Language: The silent, visual language used naturally by Hivers.
- Ithkluri: The common language of the Ithklur, and used in conjunction with Gurvin throughout the Hive Federation and adjacent space.
- Vilani: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium and common to many human worlds.
History & Background (Dossier)
The area is rich in life, but relatively young to the machinations of the major races. The Hivers name the area part of their Young Worlds. Solomani and Imperial interstellar merchants have only recently discovered the rich markets of the area.
Native Sophonts: 1105

Demographics: 1105
Significant populations of the following races (sophont species) reside within this area:
- Humaniti (Human races)
- Terragens (Non-human Terran races)
- None
Corporations
The following major corporations operate within this sector:
- Idigu Shipping: A Federation-wide Gurvin corporation specialising in the transport of passengers and freight. They subcontract to other shipping companies or ship owners to carry cargo and passengers under their flag.
- Lamuskshaash: A Federation-wide Gurvin firm that manufactures avionics, computers, robots and information retrieval systems.
- Phlotlalu Agronomics: A Gurvin company that specialises in supporting agriculture in all its forms. They operate farms, provide agricultural education, and manufacture agricultural vehicles and robots.
- Six Eyes Nest: A Hiver manufacturer of robotics.
- Slatrastelir: A respected spacecraft classification society among the Za'tachk. The standards created and used by Slatrastelir have been adopted throughout the Hive Federation and in many client states.
- Star Patterns Trading: Based here in Spica Sector, this is the major Hiver trading partner with the Third Imperium and the Solomani Confederation. Star Patterns (the Hiver term could as easily mean "Constellations" or "Major Trade Routes") is a multi-function megacorporation; it owns and operates companies which perform all necessary merchant activities, from mining raw materials to manufacturing goods to transporting them to market to merchandising them.
