Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Prt'aow is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Prt'aow has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Prt'aow has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]
No information yet available.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
Native Sophont (NIL): Prt'[edit]
A minor race evolved from once-domesticated carnivore-pouncers.
Native Sophont (NIL): Hass'kor[edit]
The Hass'kor, also known as the Hasst'kor, were an advanced species whose artifacts and ruins helped the Prt' advance technologically.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The word Prt'aow translates to "home". The pronunciation of this word is subtly different from the variant used in reference to one's dwelling, referring instead to the dwelling place of all clans.
World Starport[edit]
Prt'aow has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
World Languages[edit]
- Gurvin
- Locals will typically speak Gurvin augmented with a pidgin of local languages and Ithkluri, to provide ambiguity and metaphor lacking from the standard Gurvin vocabulary.
World Technology Level[edit]
Prt'aow possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government[edit]
Prt'aow has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
- Decisions are made by clan elders, who hold meetings to decide policy for a population -- a process too sporadic to count as a stable government. Male elders make most of the decisions, while females give final approval.
World Military[edit]
The armed forces of the planet are clan-maintained, and the bulk are volunteer militia. The primary function of the armed forces -- since space and interstellar defense are provided by the Hive Federation -- seems to be frequent competition between clans to determine which unit is the most impressive.
