Border is a preindustrial, oceanic water world.

  • It is covered with very deep oceans of water with less than 1% of its land above sea level.
  • The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 1% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
  • As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or over technology standards for Charted Space.
  • It is a member of the Hive Federation in the Flux Subsector of Spica Sector.

History & Background / Dossier[edit]

The Hivers recognise this system as the point where their territory meets the Solomani Confederation. It is thus a point of political stability in a subsector that had earned the name "Flux" due to the constantly shifting political and economic influence of two superpowers.

World Starport[edit]

Border has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Technology Level[edit]

Border possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government[edit]

Border is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions in the government. These positions are inherited by member of the group or their family members. The organization may be monarchy, with titles passed to family members. Or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Or the organization may be more typical organization with positions of power inherited.
