Mainworld Data[edit]

The surface gravity is 1.07 Gs and the atmospheric pressure, in the dense tainted atmosphere is 1.21 atmospheres.

  • There is a molten iron core and a density of 5.83 g/ml.
  • The climate is in the colder, normal range, and the planet orbits 0.39 AU from the stars.

Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]

The lower average planetary temperature contributes to ice and ice flows farther from the poles, than one might expect. There are thick ice packs on both poles that are ancient and persist throughout seasonal variations. Several species take advantage of these floating islands. Tiny scattered volcanic island chains exist, the total land mass is minuscule. The subsurface features are often titanic in proportions, huge rift submarine valleys and trenches, vast abyssal plains, and jagged subsurface mountain chains. In the warmer climate bands, shallow areas are riot of sessile colonial forms akin in function, if not form to reef structures.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

There is native life here in abundance. There are several native species loosely termed "flying whales", large, winged filter feeders. These leviathans can rise from great depths and still soar in the dense atmosphere. Carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen play vital roles of the biosphere here.

History & Background / Dossier[edit]

Early Vilani colonial efforts were eventually supplanted by Solomani solutions. The Solomani at that time tinkered with life forms, native and those brought in to help terraform. Native species were modified, and in some cases weaponized.

World Starport[edit]

Kestral (Sp 0431) has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

  • The starport has a 30,000 ton capacity for repair, overhauls and the construction of non jump capable space ships. Some of the capacity is used to build advanced TL–11, large, grav propelled flying submarines. These fusion powered vessels can fly, reach orbit and dive into the ocean depths. They typically have thick armored hulls to resist the changes in pressure, and are environmentally sealed with long duration life support. The lines between space rated ship's boats, gunboats, and system defense boats that can submerge and grav powered submersible vehicles that can fly, becomes blurry here.

World Government[edit]

Kestral (Sp 0431) has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

World Military[edit]

The various governments on the world have divided available territory and resources. The total troop strength for the planet is a combined force of twelve military battalions. Most of the military focuses on the use of the fusion powered, anti grav mobility of their flying subs. These weapon platforms carry special lasers which can be tuned to function in orbital space, atmospheric combat and deep underwater. The tactical missile payloads must also be flexible, into order to function across these different regimes. The plasma weapons function better in space and atmospheric environments. Experiments with charged/neutral particle accelerators and meson guns continue. The genetically modified forces and weaponized non-sentient species become a biological weapons, and are a factor worthy of military consideration.

World Demographics[edit]

Rumors persist that several species of Terragens were released here. Solomani may have also genetically engineered humans to function as amphibians here, cybernetically and genetically, to cope with the cool, wet conditions below this world ocean.

World Culture[edit]

The divisive nature of the balkanized power balance is rooted in conflicts between Human Chimera and unmodified colonists of other eras. Ancient Vilani pockets persist, with only the most gradual and subtle changes. Later modified life forms had to struggle to survive and prosper from the onset. The latest Solomani presence is less tolerant and is certain that unmodified humans from Earth, are the only true rulers of this world.

Historical Data[edit]

During the Ziru Sirka, Spica Sector was still beyond their borders. After -2023 the Hive Federation began to exert influence in this sector.
